Understated?

Just acquired this WG DD 40 and I'm really enjoying it; the size, craftsmanship, heft, glow of the WG, etc, etc.

I feel like it's a really understated piece. I wear it with dress shirts as well as tee shirts and feel like it really flies under the radar, looking much like a garden-variety DJ or maybe even a knock-off to the non-WIS.

The wife feels differently, calling it "maybe a little blingy."

Thoughts?

I think it looks great. If your wife really thinks "bling" then you should show her the iced out Nautiluses that every rapper and his mother are wearing these days.

To the masses, it just looks like every other DJ. Very nice choice!

Looks perfect! I would certainly disagree respectfully with the Wife on this one.

A President bracelet is recognisable from far away. So perhaps the Mrs has a point. Beautiful watch, huge congrats.
(Nothing wrong with a little bling btw)

I think it is understated compared to a yellow or rose gold DD. This watch is a little "blingy" given the polished center links and fluted bezel. It is a gorgeous and classic watch, and I hope to add one to my collection in the future.

bloody quality piece, better than yellow gold and best colour dial. Good job

Very understated and elegant. The fluted bezel is what will attract some attention but since it's WG many will mistake it for a SS Datejust especially from a distance. WIS will know right away what it is just by seeing the bracelet.

I saw this at an AD and think the black dial is the best choice with WG. That's an incredible watch!

I think its great. WG and plat are great for "under the radar", but up close it says quality and serious class! Not too showy at all, just right!

Hope you get one with a German date wheel!!! There are so many in English out there and you can always swap it for an English one if you get tired of the German one. This is what I love about the DDs.

I think chances are good that I get it with the German date wheel. My AD knows about my project

The bezel may add some bling to it, but overall definitely under the radar for what it really is
Beauty! Congrats!
