The High Tax On Petrol

I went in a garage yesterday and someone was complaining to the garage owner about high petrol costs, blaming them, the phases of the moon, everything apart from the real culprits - the b@st@rd government and their ridiculously high levels of tax, of which the bare minimum goes back into roads and public transport.

How can we educate these people? At the moment it makes me livid the government can just laugh all the way to the bank, safe in the knowledge they won't be blamed.Occasionally I ask people what they think the tax on fuel is. The amount of people that reply "ooh, dunno, about 20 or 30 per cent?" is just breathtaking. Given that the total is closer to 70%, something needs to be done.I propose designing stickers that can be stuck to petrol pumps just to show the real tax on fuel in the UK.

I propose stealing a petrol tanker popping over to Saudi for a visit
to Uncle Adrian. And hiding it somewhere for personal use, Petrol theft is going to skyrocket as normally law abiding citizens take to theft in order to pay for things like, food, gas, electricity, and such. I have even been considering it myself, all you need is the number plates from an identical car and you too can join the exciting world of the petrol drive off.If someone could come up with a way to get the petrochemical companies to release all of the other sources of powering vehicles, that have been invented and then hidden away by them, to keep their cash cow alive, then we would all be sorted.

As it is I am looking quite looking forward to a Mad Max style of existence here in the UK.Bugger the conspiracy theories - I want a massive supercharger sticking out the top of my bonnet!.But alas if the Government did not take about 75p from every litre of fuel sold in the UK. It would have to seek it elsewhere, either by raising vat, or income tax. How else would it be able to buy beamers for the King of Swaziland, pour money into Iraq, and pay Tony Blair's mortgage?

As far as fuel theft goes, I actually think we will see a sharp rise in the number of people using red diesel in there diesel cars. It's pretty much untraceable if you're careful enough buying it and I don't think I've ever seen a roadside dip-test.But just remember, that there's a £250 fine for having it in the tank, and a £250 fine for putting it in there. So if you're caught, don't for goodness sake admit you put it in there. Claim ignorance, say you've been driving around deepest darkest Wales. Picking up watches and things you've bought on eBay. And it could be any one of a number of petrol stations that had "polluted" diesel (as I'm sure some do). Then you're likely to only get a £250 fine, which wouldn't take much to recoup due to reduced costs of red diesel.

People won't stand for ridiculously-high fuel tax with ridiculously-low transport investment for ever will they, but this is the UK,and we just love to be shafted.

A few of our "petrol" distributors here have stickers on the pump showing the breakdown of where the price per litre goes. Very little to the service station, LOTS to the Govt.
I saw a thing on the news, that pawn shops are having people pawn off jewellery so they can buy gas to get to work.
