116610LN Flip Dilemma
Hello TRF
Still a newbie, but find this forum super helpful. Sorry its a bit long.. So a couple of weeks ago my AD called me and I bought a new 116610LN in time for Valentines. Happy days. It was bit of a surprise because when I signed up in December they told me I was #11 in line.. Turns out my wife, thinks the Ceramic bezel is too shiny. I am not going to wear it, preferring a steel bezel (EXP II shout out) and I already have a SD43 (very proud). Ultimately am in looking for a new beater (not a sub). I would consider trading the SUB for a new EXP II but want to see what comes out of Baselworld in March (Probably confusing the issue). The Question is should I flip now or wait? Looking at chrono24 they dont appear to be moving and some users are reporting Subs in AD display cases. Looking forward to anyone's piece of mind. |

I don't typically give this advice, but since we are so close to Basel, I might just wait and see. Unless something is really blowing your skirt up, there's certainly no rush.
I like the EXP2/SD combo. So...if nothing "must have" comes along, then there would be a lot worse combinations to own. |

I think the Explorer 2 + SD is a cool combo and if that's what you want, go for it.
Remember, IF we see something mindblowing in Basel world, 1) it will most likely be in PM and 2) it will be very hard to get later on in the year. Go for the Explorer 2 *Please be a polar*

If you're not going to keep the Sub I'd sell it now and pocket the cash. Try classified ads on watch forums like this one instead of just Chrono24.
I don't see the resale price of the current Sub going any higher than it is right now. As you said, they're starting to show up in AD cases again and, on the off chance they update the Sub or the movement at Basel, you might be stuck with a less desirable model. |

I would wait for Basel of course but if the sub is shining also the sd43 it is even more because bezel is bigger so why sd43 is fine and sub not?

1. The 16610 sub was elegant in my opinion, but over the years it has become bit of a bulldog and looks "stumpy". The SD43 proportions are far more elegant and carries the bezel like a Doberman! 2. The SD43 is a little controversial but definitely unique and will appreciate more than the sub. IMHO. |

My AD had a sub just sitting in the case waiting to be bought, and they generally have a cr@p selection. Hold until after the show, or lock in your losses now i guess in local sale.
Since you're in the Bahamas, you could take it with you on a trip to the UK to maximize resale value. The UK guys here on TRF would easily pay full retail, maybe more.

116610LN Flip Dilemma
Hold up, so your wife thinks the ceramic bezel on the sub is too shiny but you have a SD43?
Also, if it’s your watch why does it matter what your wife thinks about the shininess of the bezel? Unless it’s reflecting sunlight in her eye more than once a day I don’t personally find that to be a valid reason. Either YOU like the watch or YOU don’t. My 2 cents. |

If my wife had told me the bezel on my new Submariner was too shiny, I would have said Honey it's ok, you don't have to wear it.
Keep it!! |

I flipped my sub c, I can't stand the ceramic shine either. I do have a Explorer II and it is a much better daily watch.

If you like the fit of the SD43, I would think the Exp. II would fit you better than the Sub, and would also offer more visual variety. I think that points to a flip, even though I am typically anti-flip without clear certainty.

You are a very lucky man. I guess your wife is not into big shiny diamonds.

Keep the SubC imho. I’ve had 3 Sold 3 and picking up another next week. I regret it every time and before I got my 1st I wore a dssd from 08-11 daily. It might be worn 5x year now. And not to mention I paid $6850 or $6900 out the door for my 1st.

I would contact a Trusted Seller and work out a trade for the Explorer II. I went with the Polar and could not be more pleased.
