question for explorer guys.

white or black? which one do you have? did you wish you went with the other color, if so why?
are you happy with the watch?
Thank you.

Bought the black because it was larger than the Sub and liked the way it looked on my 7.5" wrist. It was my first Rolex. Sold it less than a year later to buy the SD43 which is best of all worlds imo. (bigger case & bracelet, newest movement, collectible design)

polar, was my second Rolex, just thought how easy it was to read, sounds weird but its a "cool" looking watch in the summer, knowing i'd be adding some darker faced/dialed watches gives variety.

I had a black-dialed 16570. It was my first Rolex, I sold it a little over a year ago. If it had been a polar 16570, then I would have kept it.

All three!

Explorer 39mm 214270 MK1
Explorer II 16570 Polar
Explorer II 16570 Black

These are the most under the radar Rolexes. I wear the MK1 the most because I doubt many people notice I am wearing a Rolex and it fits the best.

The Polar was the watch I wanted before I bought a Rolex, but was my fifth one actually purchased. I wear it the least of any of my watches. It is one of my favorites in pictures, but not as exciting to wear. I purchased mine new with stickers and have worn it less than ten times, but I will never sell it.

I keep the black 16570 on a rubber strap. When I want to wear a nice watch, but don't want anyone else to know, that is my choice. Totally under the radar. I think on the wrist it is easier to read than the Polar, but does not look as good in pictures.

If I were to only have one of the three it would be the MK1 as it is the closest to a go anywhere do anything watch. The gold numerals make it dressy enough for the theater and it is rugged enough to take camping and hiking.

Owned older white for years, and if I ever get the one with the orange hand it's going to be white as well.

Black ! I tried the white one but the black is better looking in my opinion, more under the radar too:

I had the black Explorer II, really liked it. Traded it for a polar Explorer II and I love it. I'm an old guy, so the white dial and black hands are very easy to read.

Let's hear it for the older guys! I prefer the polar for the same reason.

Explorer II and Daytona :

Silver bezel = white dial

Black bezel = black dial

black for me. the white dial, orange hand and black hour markers are just too much going on for me. All personal preference though. the polar owners have their own valid opinions on why it's the best. I think that's why rolex gave us two options.

I love the polar, and have wanted one for almost 20 years. Finally bought one a few weeks ago, and as I started looking at other watches found myself regretting the white. But then when I put it on my wrist it all goes away and love it even more.

I liked both but when it came time to buy one I went polar. No regrets at all. I cant imagine owning the 16570 in black now since most of my other watches are black dialed.

I had a black dial, traded it for a white dial two weeks later. Black is hard to see at a glance. White is way easier to see the time.

Polar 16570... part of a collection. If it was to be my only Rolex or part of a pair i may have gone black. Would love to get a black 1655 but prices are steep. May end up adding a black 16570 depending on Basel releases

I’ve owned both. Stuck with black, little more classy looking in my humble opinion

I owned the polar as almost all of my other watches were dark faced.

Had the EX II 216570 for a couple months....what eventually lead me to move it on were the following:

Twinset crown seems to be too small for the case - much prefer larger crown and triplock
The hands seemed to be disproportionally 'fat'
The black color on the dial and hands (the floating effect), while cool just looked 'off' to me
Missed the rotating bezel of the Diver and GMTs

Overall its not a bad piece, but it just didn't do it for me. It seems like this model is fairly polarizing and you either love it or simply don't. Doesn't ever seem to be a middle ground on this model. Thats .02 cents on it.

Going on 5 years with the 216570 in black. Couldn't have made a better choice - for me, anyway. I was originally going to go polar, until I saw it in person. The black lines around the hour markers just wasn't enough contrast for me. Again, it's an entirely subjective choice. If you haven't done so already, swing by an AD and take a look.
