Diamond ring VS Rolex

Noob question: If you hold hands etc with your wife and she has a diamond ring..if it swings past your Rolex at the perfect angle, will it scratch it?

Yes, and metal bracelets that she wears will also scratch the case and bracelet.

I'm sure you've heard that the Black Panther's suit and the shield of Captain America are made out of Vibranium , a marvel comic fictional metal regarded as the strongest in the universe, right ? So, is it only a myth or such a material really exist? Scientists have recently discovered another carbon configuration, an ultrastrong compressed glassy carbon, harder than diamond ( Yes it scratches diamond ) but flexible as rubber just like the Black Panther suit !

Anyway...

I just proposed to my gf last week, so this thread is very timely. I'll have to be on the watchout for her ring now!

I thought the topic was "Should I buy her a ring or a Rolex?"

Rolex of course!

Yes, my wife / muse diamond Rolex has successfully scratched up two of my timepieces. No worries, as what really matters is that you enjoy your time :)

Yowza to some of the replies! I also thought it was a get wife/gf a Rolex or ring post. I sometimes switch my watch to my other wrist depending on which hand she’s holding and what bling she’s wearing as to avoid scratches! OCD? Maybe but I would like to avoid expensive crystal replacements!

From what I’m hearing it’s so scary to hold hands or swing my hand near my wife’s hand when I have my new watch LOL

A related corollary is when your kids are of a certain height that you keep banging them in the head with your Rolex...

Rolex will be fine, but there may be a lot of tears.

Seemed especially bad when I wore the DSSD and they were at that particular age/height getting smacked all the time in the head.

Does it make sense to put on a sheet of crystal protector?

My wife would laugh at this because I automatically switch her to my right hand constantly as I don’t trust her ring, watch, bracelets or purse.

My wife so far scratched my favorite glass mugs with her ring. She is fully aware I’m a watch guy and she wears mechanical watches only herself so she is somewhat aware of the ring danger, but I still prefer acrylic crystal to sapphire so I can fix it easily when her left hand strikes. ;)
