Rolex Submariner 16610LV Fat 4 Insert

So my 16610LV from 2004 F5****** serial came with a complete full set, but in 2008 it was serviced by Rolex and received a new 93250 bracelet (original one still in exceptional condition, not sure why it was replaced and allowed to be kept) AND a replacement green insert with a pointy 4.

My question is this. Where would I get an original fat (flat) 4 insert back for the watch? I have been looking on eBay but nothing but the pointy 4 inserts.

There is watch with one on on its own which I am tempted by then swap the bezel and sell the loose watch with the pointy 4. It'll cost me less than £5000

WOW, this getting silly . And brings me to a point I have raised previously regarding LV flat four inserts . So if you have a LV flat four insert currently on your LV, & send it to Rolex for a service will Rolex change over the insert for a Non Flat four insert as part of the service ( if scratched or damaged ). And if the insert is replaced with non flat four will this reduce the potential future value, or will this not matter .Also moving forward will any scratches on a Fat four insert lower the price against a unmarked Fat four insert , I only ask because currently the advise given to anyone looking to purchase a LV fat four is buy the best you can , But will higher premium be paid to all original fat four LVs regardless of scratches to the insert ,or LVs that have had the fat four insert replaced with newer inserts . Food for thought as the prices continue to rise .

That's the reason why I removed my original "Flat 4" insert on my Kermit and put it aside for safe keeping. I could see the writing on the wall early.
I replaced it with a genuine Black insert which were readily available.

The watch is gone now for a nice little profit with the original insert fitted.

You can probably source one on eBay but I can only imagine the outrageous prices or wait for one to pop up for sale on here. It wasn't until recently that you noticed the bezel was swapped? I don't understand why Rolex would swap out a perfectly good bezel.

I sent my non Flat 4 in for a service. The bezel was obviously scratched. The RSC seemed fine with it. I asked for a new bezel. Was about $160. If I had a Flat 4 to service I would be very careful. I might even remove the bezel prior to dropping it off. The RSC will NOT replace a Flat 4 with a Flat 4.

IIRC a flat 4 insert for an LV was priced to $2995 recently and marked sold on VRF.

one of the most sure-fire ways of ensuring your 'unique' dial, bezel, hands etc on any modern or vintage Rolex (and any accompanying 'value') will be totally disregarded and swapped out for a new boring version is to send it to RSC service..

All they are concerned about it ensuring the watches are returned from service looking as 'new' as possible.

Ouch! Man that’s an expensive lesson to be learned. Maybe it’s better to just stick with what you have and just enjoy the watch. I know it’s a matter of dollars and cents but it really is just a 4.

Yes.
But a "4" not quite like any others on a green bezel insert.
