First Rolex - 30th Birthday
Looking to get my first rolex for my 30th. Couple of questions for the forum.
Any thoughts on these models: Explorer 2 (Polar) 216570, GMT Master II, Submariner (Ceramic and pre-ceramic)? It would be an everyday wearer (desk job). Thoughts on new vs preowned. Have been able to find most of the models outlined above for around $6.5K with the exception being the 116610 subC date. I have located all of these at an AD as well so I do have the option to purchase new. All comments welcome. |

You cannot go wrong with the SubC date, it’s the ultimate wearer and people that let it go miss it and buy it back, happens quite often.. GMT is a nice watch as well, you need to be a bit more careful not to scratch the polished mid-links, I own a Batman..
Since it is going to mark a special occasion I would go new but if you don’t mind finding a good used at a bargain in a good move always.. good luck and congratulations Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

All three are excellent options - I own the Polar 216570 and it's fantastic. It's my daily wearer - I've had it for 17 months and I wear it 24/7. It wears and looks great but I'm sure the same could be said for all the models you mentioned. Happy birthday and be sure and share with us what you decide!

As the first daily watch, a LN can never go wrong.
The Black dial and bezel can match with any clothes and still go the green second hand and splash as lovely details

Try them on. You’d be amazed at how they speak to you once in he wrist. As for me, I’d say a sub is the perfect first Rolex for yourself turning 30. Good luck and post an update once you’ve decided.

SubC no date new is 7500. If you can swing it buy new if u can find it if you were to buy used i’d Personally go for an explorer 1. But go to the store and try them on. You be surprised what you may or may not like on your wrist.
Also there is 0% finance at tourneu so that may change your view on what you may want to buy. |

Since you have them at an AD, I’d go and try them on. They are all great choices
I’d also go with purchasing through an AD for my first |

Definitely try them on. You will heart which one sings to you!
Personally, I would choose the sub... that is the one the sings for me! |

All great options. The SubC Date is a fantastic all around watch, as is the GMT. The Polar is less traditional, but still a very nice (albeit more casual) piece. While I like the 5 digit models, I prefer the look of the newer 6 digit models. I'd also say since this is a milestone marker to buy new rather than used.

I’ve owned a few pre owned in the past, but when I was ready to buy new I went with the polar 42mm. I love all of the others, but they are so popular that it seems everyone has one. At my golf club alone I know at least 10 sub wearers, but have not seen one polar yet. Even at Disney this past week I saw a few Rolex, and actually saw another polar for the first time in the wild. The rest were a couple TT subs and a few dj. Go with what speaks to you. My choice was based on I don’t like to go with the majority and I love white dialed watches. Can’t really go wrong with any of them really.

SubC Date, if nothing else for the glidelock bracelet. It is brilliant. I find myself making micro adjustments multiple times a day on my SD43.
If you travel a lot, the GMT Master. A jump hour function is remarkably useful. I can’t recommend the ExpII only because it’s the only model I would never purchase, purely a personal preference, even thought it has the GMT function. |

GMT and I'll add the Explorer to the mix.
A Sub was my first and I like my Explorer and Explorer II better to be honest. |

Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of those choices. Buy what speaks to you after trying them on (can't stress that enough). If you still can't make up your mind, I'd go with the GMT II (best, most useful function out of all the watches mentioned here).
Also, as someone who works in an office setting, a tool watch Rolex is never out of place and fits right in.

All great choices and hopefully someday you'll have them all. I'd personally go for GMT, then Exp II, then sub, but you should start with the one that excites you the most.

The sub as a first is never a bad idea, IMO.
That said, the GMT and EXP2 are great options. I think the GMT is the most versatile watch on the planet and the EXP2 has always been my go-to for years. I just got back from a trip to Florida, and it handled everything I could throw at it with ease. Let the function make your choice...if you travel, then go with one of the latter choices. If not, then go with the sub. And...look at it this way, you'll probably end up with all three at some point, so it's more of a question of which one do you want first. |

Congrats on the upcoming birthday! The SubC Date with glidelock is a really fantastic choice (as are the others, but that’s the way I’d recommend going). So comfy and versatile.

A lot depends on your tastes - which we don't know. Don't let us pick for you.
That being said, the Ceramic Sub is pretty sweet - aggressive, ambitious, elegant. The Explorer II is one of the less popular models. The white dial with black hands look very elegant, in my opinion. The GMT II is good if you travel a lot. |
