Storage!

How do folks store their Rolex when not in use? Crown in or out? Watch laid flat or on its side crown up? Winder/No winder?
Thank you for your thoughts!

No winder, as I daily mine.

Why would the crown be out?

I’ve seen pictures of watches, where they are testing with the crown unscrewed.

I don’t understand.

Is this do that the watch stops ticking and to save the power reserve for later use?

If so, I still wouldn’t risk it.

Crown in at all times unless winding or setting time. I lay crown side down on a soft surface, less surface area. No watch winder, I don’t have a date so no need to keep that up, I also don’t buy into the old wives’ tale that keeping your watch wound is somehow better for the movement.

Lay down on side, crown down. I never leave the crown open for any reason.

In my watch box that is locked in my safe.

Why would you want the potential of moisture entering your watch?

Why would you leave it running when not wearing?

how about OF owners? Since you can’t rest the watch on the OF bracelet lying flat, do you rest it on its side crown up?

Crown in on the winder if it is more than a day or two. Otherwise hung on my Bibendum butter dish next to the bed.

in the safe or bank box, in plastic caskets, oakley vaults, everest pouches and watch box for my active in rotation pieces.

Crown Screwed down always, watch orientation doesn't matter, unless it's the watch i'm wearing, in which case I lay it (dial down, crown down, crown up, etc.) based on how that particular watch runs.

That's quite a collection!

I store mines on the vault in either the winders or a Wolf case. Like others already said crowns always in unless when winding them / adjusting time, etc.

I feel sorry for the people that have to store watches at the bank.
Mine are on the dresser, usually face up.

I feel sorry for people who are sorry for the other people that are fortunate enough to own multiple watches stored at their bank.

I get what you mean. Love to stare at my watches everyday on the drawer too.

Furniture with hidden compartments. I like to put my current rotation in the compartments when not worn. Crowns screwed in- upright.

I would prefer to keep them out on display, but it makes me feel safer knowing they are out of sight and in areas most wouldn’t ever know exist.

The non-rotation pieces go in a bank safe in the box(es) they came in new.

This is the coolest case I have ever seen! What size is the pelican case if you don’t mind? And the tube inserts size?

Thanks! It's pelican 1400. It's a little deeper than I needed, but had the right dimensions for 10 watches.

The pillows are just 3/4" pipe insulation I got from home depot. I got a small wrist so the next size up would probably work for most people.

Thank you! Just ordered both Pelican 1200 and 1400. The insulation tube is the cleverest hack.

Looks like a Wolf case (which isn't particularly cheap). If it's a different brand, mind sharing the link please? Thanks in advance.

When my daily is not being worn it is on the dresser, computer room cabinet or sometimes on the microwave but on top of a small microfiber cloth, on its side with the crown up. I am not fussed where I leave it really. No kids or pets to knock it around.

Others are in their boxes until I pull one out and use it as my daily.
