That can be ameliorated by the proper discount.

thats why there isnt a shortage. If Rolex resale was comparable you could walk in and buy a daytona. So its not necessarily a positive.

I was in an Omega boutique last week. Almost pulled the trigger on the Speedmaster. Got the call for my black Daytona two days ago. Hans was looking out for me.

I'd say 5 digit. Classic, more personality and readily available.

Omega makes great SS sport watches too! I'm thankful for the Rolex rationing/waiting game, I special-ordered a Basel 2018 Seiko Limited Edition diver watch that I missed 10+ years ago. It's so much different when I told them what I want and they told me when it will be ready to pick up, unlike the Rolex AD where I would left knowing it would take many years if not decade to get the new 2018 SS GMT Pepsi

Life's to short to wait and sorry but Rolex isn't the only thing in town.

Speedy Pro is one of my two go-to watches. I especially like it on the Omega-provided NATO which is fantastic. I've never really understood the appeal of NATO's and tried it at the urging of my local boutique. Totally changed my attitude on that front. So comfortable, and gives the Speedy a very different look. It's the best $3800 you can spend on a watch.

I have a Omega Seamaster GMT white dial. Beautiful watch but it just doesn't get any wrist time. As far as waiting on a rolex I was fortunate and didn't have to wait long on an SD43 but was prepared to do so. I'm not on the market currently either but now having 5 rolexes I should have my head examined if I can't be patient. But I understand others wanting to get what they want when they want it.

I have a blue PO 8900 and love it. I have the 43.5 mm size and while bigger than what I am used to, I love wearing it. It’s fun to wear a larger watch sometimes.

Buy from a trusted seller and the worry on resale goes away

Sounds expensive. You buy the Omega for no reason and will end up getting thevRolex anyway.

Owned several Omegas over the years.. From the Seamaster chrono to the PO chrono 45mm and the Ploprof on mesh.. Great watches but always found myself going back to Rolex professionals.. They are the only ones I own at this point.

I've never been so inclined towards an Omega as I am right now.

Love Rolex - Loveee. But I can't play this game of paying over MSRP and waiting lists. This isn't a life essential - I'm never going to pretend a watch is.

If I didn't have my heart set on a Tudor 58 I'd grab a speedy.

I've got six Omegas. Love the PO with orange bezel insert as well as my modern and original Mark IIs. Omega makes some great watches. I've got a couple of older ones that are less popular; they can be had for low costs.

I am in Florida on vacation with an Omega boutique and Tourneu with half of the store stock being Rolex right next to each other. Given the selection of Rolex (or lack thereof) I could easily see the draw to Omegas. I really liked they grey side of the moon, for example. The only SS Rolex was a single Air-King. The rest were PM.

I agree.

I was a big Omega fan before joining the Rolex fold and still am. As far as the current state of modern Rolex goes I'm good with my only 6 digit (114060). Waitlists, allocation, and exclusivity is Rolex's way of telling me they don't want me buy the new popular models :) and I'm good with that. My preference leans heavily toward the 5 digits anyway.

omega got me into watches and they continue to have some great offerings.

One benefit of the current - very focused - SS shortage is that it encourages us to look more seriously at other brands

Lots of fine and beautiful watches out there.

Steak is great but not for every meal.
