the annual "should i flip my AP poll"

every now and then i will feel the urge for something new... whether to flip or add, i'm not sure, but i narrowed it down to these 6 choices and just for fun, i'd like to see what the forum thinks:

1. Black themes (previous generation without the red highlights)

pros: i have it mounted on a rubber strap so it's both sporty and elegant at the same time. matches anything. if i stick to it, i don't have to spend a dime.
cons: sometimes i find it dull and devoid of personality. very 'safe'

2. Steel rubberclad

pros: cool and sporty looking
cons: i would only want the H series with the updated glossy dial and white gold AP logo and chrono rings and it seems hard to find. also not as formal looking

3. Rosegold rubberclad

pros: ultra cool and sporty looking. can also be considered elegant because of the gold
cons: more expensive. too blingy looking? i'm a pretty down to earth guy so may not suit me...

4. Navy (2014 version)

pros: sporty looking and blue is my favourite colour
cons: not as formal looking. somehow i find the blue is not as vibrant in real life as in the renders

5. the beast reissue

pros: i like the shade of blue on the dial
cons: i would change it to a rubber strap, so paying the extra premium for a reissue and the steel bracelet doesn't make sense to me.

6. Grey ghost

pros: i'm very attracted to the renders. ceramic bezel
cons: have not seen in real life. may not look as nice. more expensive as it's titanium

For me, it’s between black theme and Beast for everyday wear.

I previously had the rose gold rubberclad. I was always conscious of 2 things, the gold attracted unwanted attention + when I saw other people wearing the same watch I always thought that it looked a lot cooler on them than it did on me. With gold I really think that skin tone has a lot to do with how good or bad it looks. Just my opinion based on actual ownership.

yeah i get the same feeling. whenever i see someone wearing it, most of the time i'm like woah what a cool watch.. but when i try it on, i sometimes get the feeling it's too overwhelming for me.

Whilst I have never thought myself inclined towards the ROO range, I recently tried on 'The New Beast' and I really liked it...it has been sitting in the back of my head since...I would definitely recommend having a look at the very least and would advocate for keeping it on the bracelet if you do go ahead with it.

I would definitely flip a couple for something different. All of them are chronos with sub dials at 12, 6, 9. Unless these APs are only a sub set of a much bigger collection.

No, I read it the same way, your post isn’t clear lol.

I voted to keep black themes.

CLARIFICATION:

OP currently owns the 1 option, Black Themes model. He is pondering flipping it for option 2-6 and is seeking the advice of forum members on the matter.

PS. You need to eliminate option 6 from your poll. I need as few people possible going after this model for when I purchase. Thanks!

Number 5 is the only one to own.

Who wants a watch with the mini dials holesawed through the numbers?

Seems that money or budget isnt a great concern...therefore...for a flip and just something fresh...I'd definitely recommend the 2014 ver. Navy. It's much out there than the regular colors of your other choices here.

I have an H series RC steel and 26470 navy. Love both of them and would trade black themes for either. Question for you would be could you live with the rubber bezel full time? I love it and is pretty durable compared to the steel, a bit off the radar which i like as well but the sub-dials really pop.

Pics to make your decision interesting!

they both look gorgeous.

yes i could definitely live with a rubber bezel. i saw a h series rubberclad on chrono 24 from a shop in italy but i'm really afraid of ordering it thru the internet. it's a large sum of money to potentially lose to a scammer!

Yeah, I would agree on not buying overseas unless you really vetted it. I got kinda lucky on mine but it's been a great one to own for the past several years. I planned to sell it after buying the 26470 and just couldn't after putting it back on again. I would recommend it but I'm partial.

I would see the Ghost first, then if not for you the RGRC, altho I prefer the older, greyer dial.

The Beast! Though I’d say, keep it on the bracelet...much as I like ROO rubber straps, the steel bracelet is fantastic.

That having been said, I’m now on the hunt for a vintage Beast, as I find the reissue’s dial a bit too sparkly for my tastes

To add some photos...

The reissue (tone that down a notch!)

The original (ignore the upside down tachy)

if anyone cares (LOL), i decided to wait to see the ghost before doing anything. almost put my money down for a rosegold rubberclad that was just serviced and in pristine condition, but i think i'm still a silver metal coloured guy rather than gold.

I NEED LIVE PICS OF THE GHOST NOWWWW!!!!

Update: wasn’t impressed by the ghost in person and the beast reissue was a bit out of my budget so I ended up with this:

Very nice! Beside the reissue model that would be my choice as the newer model has nicer details and open case back + ceramic issue in fact that's my first AP model (greytheme) I do like the look of the rubber clad but the rubber bezel durability is a hug draw back hence I saved another year for a 44rg instead.

None of them. Unless your wrist size restricts it, go for a 44mm ROO.

I only have the original beast and titan, but the reissue should look similar on the wrist. see photos.

Any differences between the original beast vs reissue? They both look the same to me. Thanks and forgive my ignorance if any.

I think the reissue has a more vibrant blue. It seems brighter and “blue-er”
