The itch again. Skydweller

Never fails, you think your satisfied and then you start thinking a skydweller could actually be a one and only watch?

Thoughts? I have had at one time or another just about every SS model including a few Daytona’s. Only some subs and a BLNR remain in my current collection. Was waiting for the new JC, had both prior DSSDs, but now for some reason a SkyD has piqued my interest.

I’m on the same boat. The SS SkyD with white dial, can’t stop thinking about it. Here’s a pic I found online that shows the beauty of this watch.

Can’t go wrong with a SkyD. They’re an excellent reference. Good luck with the hunt!

It depends on how many watches you own and how you like to distribute your wrist time. I find that with a fair amount of watches the Sky D gets a lot less wrist time then if it were and only. I could be happy with it as one of a two watch collection. Right now I just have too many.

I concidered a sky dweller, but looks to much like a DJj with a different face, so bought the tt sub blue instead...and glad I did.

Here they are sided by side. Pick the DJ out of the line-up. I bet you can't. Oh wait, you can tell the difference. I'll be damned. Most can't. No more does it look like a DJ than does a Day Date, IMHO. Actually it looks less like the DJ than does the DD, I think.

Sorry for the confusion; I think it would be awfully hard to mistake the two with the big circular 24 hour wheel seen on the Sky D. I was being facetious about not being able to pick out the DJ from the line-up. I hope that alleviates the confusion. Also going through photos I sometimes have a hard time telling my DJ apart from my DD when they are small images. Never that issue with the Sky D.

As I said and you also said....the "big circular 24 hour wheel"........is the only difference. Take the circle away....same watch...but still nice.

I have a number of different models, but my newest is a white dial steel Skydweller. It pretty much ticks all of the boxes, so I think I could go to just the Skydweller. Clean easy to read dial, extra complications, nice size, sporty and dressy. Probably the closest thing to a do it all Rolex in their line up.

I will be downsizing to just 2 watches. The sd43 as a daily beater and the special occasion/evenings/weekends/formal occasions blue face ss sky-dweller.

My interest has been piqued since I first saw it. I had to have an SD 43 first. This remains a someday watch for me. I just think rolex created such a terrific and beautiful dial/complication

Well, I have BLNR, DJ and SD all in SS. Even after the newness is over, the SD gets the nod 90% of the time and I've had the same thoughts as you. When and if a jubilee solution comes forth, It probably will be my one and only. The heft of the watch is substantial and Rolex has positioned is as a DD alternative, save WG and P versions, which I would trade up for.

Not sure if the Sky is the one and only watch but it sure is a good candidate.

Fairly useful complication, especially if you travel. Annual calendar, with the red square showing month is fun. 70h power reserve.

To me it is somewhere between dress watch and sports watch, will dress up well and dress down well which makes it pretty versatile I guess :)

Sits well on the wrist even though it has some size and heft.

Here is my blue one looking black from this afternoon.

The Skydweller (or any DJ) could be your one and only. Unless you are a serious scuba diver, the Skydweller is more than capable for snorkeling and swimming. It is full function except for the timing bezel which I use a lot. The only issue some might find is the PCL will get marked up easy in everyday activity but if you can live with that, then go for it.
