HK grey Rolex prices crazy!

Just been checking out some grey dealers looking for an LV. Prices are crazy, some prices even crazier than UK! Brand new airking at 53800HKD! New LV at 98000, second hand 87000! Even second hand TT Daytonas are over120000. Can't be bothered to even look anymore. To top it off their px offers aren't great. Watch finder in the UK by comparison are much fairer from my experience.

sure, gray market price of seadweller43 has risen to hkd 118000 even after no discontinuation from baselworld! I like it a lot but the premium is just too high.

A widely know trusted seller here had a Hulk for 11.5k used at Festival of Speed in St. Pete.

May Day holiday in mainland China is beginning. HK merchants are expecting the usual, very large influx of shopping tourists and high demand.

They are everywhere at the moment. I think they’re actually selling at well-below asking price. I’d guess a premium is being reached, but not the full asking.

I'm not sure if people are buying at these prices because there are already watches flowing into Hongkong from the mainland. Some mainland Chinese that I see at shops say prices are not that dissimilar from the mainland. But they want to buy in Hongkong and Macau because they are in a holiday mood (much like us Hongkongers when we go to Europe or Japan). Also, if they buy HK$500,000 of gold and jewellery from a gold/jewellery Rolex AD, they might get to buy one or two sought-after pieces at around MSRP.

Contrary to popular belief, the largest rolex re-export buyers in Hongkong are from Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, etc). To give you an idea of Hongkong's importance in the region's Swiss watch trade, all the Southeast Asian grey dealers are waiting for the Hongkong grey prices of the Basel 2018 new pieces to be announced before they formally quote prices in their respective local market. So in many ways, the Hongkong grey market prices are like the HIBOR benchmark interest rate.

I wouldn't bother to look for a SS or Professional Rolex this week as all AD's want to make the most of the golden week. But if you're a tourist visiting Hongkong now, go to all the AD's and grey dealers by all means, but chances of finding that watch you want are very slim.

Prices look similar to UK, if anything grey UK prices and watchfinder prices are higher

Because many Chinese form China to HK or Macau buy Rolex.
If you’re not VIP can’t buy at AD still grey price.

Unfortunately, the prices quoted by members above are already the norm in HK. Japan is even more expensive. Seeing alot of complaints at this forum and other forums too, but plenty more keep posting pics of ever recent purchases. To me, the gray market is just demand and supply. What's more upsetting is seeing more members posts complaints about ADs twisting arms to buy unsold stock before releasing sports models.

Yeah, Japanese grey prices are nuts. I'm told it's cash-wielding mainland Chinese and Southeast Asians that are buying.

That's right Sir, the HK dealer I know actually has 2 BNIB right now.This one is also going for HK $98000 and believe it or not, his next Hulk will be slapped with a price tag of HK$100000. Excuse the pun, but he told me any pre-owned Hulk won't 'dive' sub HK $84000

not sure how i feel about that. There was some comfort in knowing the UK was the worst. I guess this means it can and probably will get worse.

In Hong Kong the higher the price the more it will sell. It's the base model for Rolex everywhere of course but wealthy China accelerates it. If people see you with a hard to get watch that commands a massive premium and you haven't sold yours, or indeed even paid that premium, then you are a big swinging dick.

which LV? 98000 is seems good for a new LV 50th.

Mr Wong was referring to the Hulk Ref 116610LV that's going for HK98000 not the 5 digit reference. Maybe it's just me but HK dealers that I'm acquainted with simply refer to Ref 16610lv as Kermit or Kermit Submariner 50th Anniversary blah...blah... blah...
