Apple phishing scam

I received a couple emails today purportedly from Apple asking me to confirm my identity due to some suspicious activity on my iTunes account. One email said my account was locked until I signed in on their link to validate my credentials.

On my phone, the emails looked real enough. But my iTunes account wasn't locked, so this was clearly a phishing scam to get my log in credentials.

Beware of this scam.

Yeah I've been getting those for a while now, but haven't paid much attention since I'm busy sending money to the IRS that keeps calling me.

I've also been getting those for a while regarding iTunes purchases and resetting passwords. Each time I reported them in Outlook.

I got 6-8 calls one day last week from people claiming to be Apple support because my iTunes account was compromised.

Every single caller had a heavy Indian accent. It's a very common scam.

Caller ID even says Apple Inc, but it's some random number.

I humored them for the first few calls. Eventually yelled at them to remove my number from their scam list. I was get annoyed after that many calls within a few hours.

Haven't gotten any calls since that day. I guess they do actually remove your number if they know you can't be scammed.

usually they say they are from apple, but if you actually look at the actual email address where it originated its not apple.

I’ve received I don’t know how many emails like yours for a very long time. Maybe not as many as one per month but very likely at least one every other month. Same goes for PayPal. As of yet I’ve yet to respond and very quick to delete and yet both accounts are still active. If I have any doubts I never click on the link but check my account by going directly to the actual website and log on from there.
