That first ding always hurts

Yesterday I was reaching for something on the floor and hit the Daytona on the edge of a desk (see the edge of the lug on the left). Even though this is a watch I plan to have forever and build "character" with, and even though this ding isn't tremendously bad, a small part of me still cringed. The first ding always hurts.

Still though, watches are meant to be worn and I'm sure there will be plenty more of these to come. Cheers

I have a buddy who used to take a key to his bumper on every new car since the first scratch is always the most painful and wanted to get it out of the way.

Yup....exactly how I see any marks on my watches. Once I get over it, I double down and wear them more often.

Sure stinks but I view it as the pressure is now totally off.
I can relax and enjoy it.

Pretty nice ding there! As you said there will be more and watches are meant to be enjoyed, not babied.

Arg....sometimes I wonder if a dent gives the watch character or helps you build some?...

Haha, great perspective. My wife is giving me grief about being so dramatic with this. I definitely need to build some character

i would rather see a well worn, loved and enjoyed watch than a minty example that has been tucked away in a box for many years.

Did a piece of the steel actually chip off? that would bother me if that’s the case.

I don't think so, although I'm no expert, it looks like a dent.

As usual with these pictures, the fully zoomed in macro shot makes it appear larger and worse than it actually is. Plus, me being OCD about it doesn't help either Here's an iPhone picture without any zoom. You can see the tiny mark on the lug.

Also, it's on the 1 o'clock lug, so I never see it, which helps with the OCD as well
