I don’t recall ever seeing another box like this. It came with the Sky D I bought from ArizonaPaul for my Dad.

It still might be below “luxury” standards (compared to PP, AP, even panerai and omega) but compared to the dozens of Rolex boxes that have pass d through my hands, I’m very impressed with it.

Anyone else get one of these?

It was the correct box for original SkyDwellers when they were first released. I received 2 of them one with my RG SkyD and one with my YG SkyD.

Yes of course as only original SkyDwellers were in PM. They moved away from this box a year or so later after original release.

Curious if he used old PM box or if they are going back to this box now as it went away a while ago. Maybe ask him?

Discontinued because it's way easier making a bunch of similar boxes with the same interior except in different sizes. This one would require changes in the manufacturing process of these things and that warrants spending extra money for little value which is why Rolex dumped it.

Except for the fact that they would have already tooled up to make the new boxes. The initial cost was already absorbed. Discontinuing would cost them more because the new tooling and materials would now be sitting idle.

This assumes it's actually been discontinued. We don't know that for a fact. They might reappear at some point.

Only Rolex knows why they reverted. Anything else is just speculation.

Is it even known that the boxes are made by Rolex, in Switzerland? I imagine they are outsourced to China or Vietnam or somwhere by now. They need close to a million a year, after all.
