Rolex SD 116600 - Improvements
Been staring at my SD the last 2 days and still blown away by the design of the timepiece.
As like the rest of us, if I were going to improve upon this watch as per my personal taste, I would have liked the case drilled on the lugs (and on the SD43) further supporting the whole tool watch thingy. What do you guys think? |

It’s my favorite and daily beater! i’ll Agree I wish it had drilled Lugs! But, also wish it came with MilSub Sword hands and a 1/2 link in the bracelet too!!!

I'm with him on the sword hands. I had an homage watch once that had a maxi dial and sword hands. It was a really cool look reminiscent of the original Milsub. Also, the larger size of the hands gives far greater visibility at night. Just compare any Rolex to a Black Bay. The massive hands on the BB are way better than Rolex in terms of night time visibility and lume area.

It's a great watch, as much as I like the SD43 I equally liked the SD4000. I miss mine.

I appreciate the usefulness of drilled through lugs, but I love the clean look of the way they are on my SD43 and the SD4K

Interesting... That would be a nice touch wouldn't it! My understanding though a sapphire doomed crystal is difficult and expensive to make though.
Although a hark back to it's roots would be a plexiglass crystal. Can you imaging the discussions on the forum and controversy if Rolex went with a Plexi crystal! |

My only improvement would be to the profile of the bracelet's end-links. I have always wondered why the slope of the end-links isn't the same as the slope of the lugs.
I haven't seen or searched for TRF threads on this, so please don't flame me! |

Probably because it was cheaper for Rolex to simply use the base bracelet from the six digit sub, which of course has different lugs

It's an odd complaint, really, since PM Daytona, Yacht-Master and 116660 SD endlinks stick past the lugs as well. It's not like the 116600 was the first Rolex to receive this treatment. |

I remember reading somewhere that they were trying to create a 'waterfall' look - might have been BS but it was certainly in print somewhere. Was short-lived so obviously not a success - something else that makes the 116600 a future collectible in my view. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have the DeepSea clasp on my 16600 Sea-Dweller. I can tell you, it really is nice.
