Explain me this...

What is it with the recent discussions about people getting on "lists" for certain Tudor watches? I love Tudor (I own the red rose), but it has never been hard to find. In fact, I consistently can walk in to any AD and buy a current produced model at approximately 15-20% discount. I do not think this trend will change.

But give it to Rolex to be able to create the hype!

Well, nothing to explain then.

I believe the hype is more around the Basel releases this year, specifically the Red/Blue GMT Tudor released this year. They'll likely be hot for a minute then become readily available. The same cannot be said about the new Rolex GMT Pepsi.

Yup think the Pepsis will influence each other in hypeland and so you will have lists in big City ADs for both.

i agree. Tudor mirrored Rolex's big release this year. There will be increased tudor demand because of this. It won't work if that watch is not attainable either. It will be available readily within a few months of release. Im convinced of that.

x2 'x years long' won't work with Tudor. X months however.. OP must have made a pact with the devil or a genie or something.

Not so much waiting lists but more pre-order lists for Basel 2018 models.

I don't understand why some people are so against this. No different to pre-ordering something like the latest movie or console game release.

No doubt you would be able to pick these watches up as soon as they are released anyway, the pre-order just means I can guarantee the watch and don't need to ring around.

That's awesome. Let's see your Tudor GMT and Black Bay 58 on release day with a receipt showing the discounted prices you paid.

Couple of years ago you could get any steel sportswatch from rolex except the Daytona
And I always bought them wit a nice discount
My dealer called me more than once if I wanted a steel green sub, gmt, deepsea blue...

Things can change

Tudor imo makes exceptional watches for a very cheap price
Production is much lower than Rolex so IF the demand would grow there might be a shortage

How do you know production is much lower for Tudor? All data are secret. Do you work for Rolex? Do you have any data to back-up your claims?

COSC used to release certification numbers by brand. In 2014 it was 781,000 rolex watches and 2500 Tudors. So thats a huge difference. Not all Tudors were certified but all Rolex's are. No way tudor makes more watches.

So you did know how many Rolex watches were made per year in a roundabout way. That has changed as of 2016 though i believe.

source

rolex

Tudor

that's a huge difference, right :-)

I won't say these numbers are 100% accurate but they will be good enough to give you an indication

I'm waiting for mine because the AD doesn't have one yet. I expect that in a year or two I could walk into my dealer and buy one. I want mine this August. So I've asked them to give me one of the early deliveries.

The issue is only for getting the Basel releases quickly. If you are willing to wait a few months to get the GMT, don't bother with the list.
