Hirsch London versus Cammile Fournet?
TRF friends, I'm narrowing the selection of a strap for my Omega Aqua Terra, 41.5mm, with the blue dial.
The two models I think fit the bill are both square-scale alligator straps. One is the Hirsch London, and the other is a Cammile Fournet from their "Classic" line of ready-to-wear straps. They're both Navy Blue with blue stitching. They both are shaped with a classic taper from 20mm at the lugs to 16mm at the buckle, with padding that's only ~4mm thick. These are the proportions I prefer. I'm leaning a bit toward the CF, mainly because its length is 75mm/115mm, and I think that's just right for my ~7.25" wrist, while the Hirsch seems to come only in 70mm/110mm or 80mm/120mm. I'm probably overthinking this, but if you have first-hand experience with either of these then I'll be grateful to hear your thoughts. Many thanks! Here is Hirsch's photo: Here are a couple of the Cammile Fournet from their site: |

I’ve had hirsch straps in the past and they have always been great for the money.
Have been considering a few CF straps myself. Have heard great things about CF and would imagine them being higher quality and better finished.

While it seems that many have had acceptable experiences with Camille Fournet, I was severely disappointed with the CF custom I ordered. It was off from my specifications in multiple aspects and had shoddy craftsmanship. Perhaps their 'off-the-rack' quality is better.

The blue strap on that comes on the Journe chronometre bleu is awesome and would look great on the AT but I don’t know who manufactures them

Initially, I only used JR because they have FPJ hardware but they've become my go-to for customs because their material/color selection is outstanding and they'll do anything I've asked for as far as stitching/linings/color combos/etc. and their craftmanship is top notch. JR also has a chain of boutiques (NYC, London, Paris, Tokyo, etc.), which is handy for checking out the actual materials before ordering. |

I vote for the CF especially with the subtle and elegant blue stitching on the strap. Gives your SM a great look!

I put a Hirsch London on my IWC and was very pleased. I also think I have some OEM CF-made straps on my JLCs and they are also nice. I'd probably go for whichever one is cheapest and easiest to get, as they seem about equal in quality.

This is very helpful. I also get the sense that a London and a CF are very similar to one another, and I'm glad to hear your opinion on this. Thank you!

I have owned both straps in alligator square scales. The CF is a very good strap and would probably be my choice. Their dark blue strap is very dark, almost looks black depending on the light. Don't know the price difference but last time I looked the CF alligator was about $360 plus shipping. The Hirsch straps I have bought were good, a little stiffer than the CF. Post a pic when you have decided.
