The U.K. AD relationship game
I recently went into a new ( to me ) U.K AD after falling out with the AD that I had been using for a number of years.
I obviously had the aim of building some common ground and being put on the list for the new DSSD and SkyDweller. I wanted some advice on if I should get the divers extension removed from my SD43 and replace with two new links. We spoke for a while and came to the conclusion that additional links is the way to go. I got a call the next day stating that the links are in and could I take the SD43 in to have the links fitted. When I arrived the shop manager came over and introduced himself and said he was sorry that I had had a bad experience with my last AD and he will do everything possible to get my DSSD and SkyDweller before the end of the year. I was floored, I haven’t had decent treatment in an AD in years. Then he went one step further and gave my daughter the Swarovski pen that she and been staring at on the display. I think this proves that you don’t need to buy watches that you don’t want and suck up to an AD, be yourself, be genuine a decent AD will really appreciate it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hey Teddy, that sounds like a good relationship is about to start. I’m sure it was so refreshing to be around the AD who wanted to help!

Interested to see which AD it is in London? My family AD is John Pass,Crewe but I live in Milton Keynes now and unfortunately my local AD is Goldsmiths. LDN is 40 mins away so don't mind travelling for a decent AD. |

Not been there, but better option to try first than going down to London? There's another non-chain AD in Banbury, which again closer to MK than London, and again, likely a better bet.

£13 return ticket including underground pass and free parking at work (MK station) makes it easier to get to London haha. I will check them out though! |

I've visited virtually all of the London AD's in the last 3 months. First for a Daytona and then for a SubC.
If I wrote what I think about most of them, I would get banned from this forum for use of bad language!!! Waste of time even if you have money burning in your pocket. Unless you play the AD game of buying their other none SS stuff. In the end I purchased 3 older Rolex's in the last 7 weeks and quite happy with them. So no longer need to take the crap the AD's chuck out verbally.

Sounds like you have a pretty good idea of which AD it is. My old AD is a total melt. He rang me at 1500 on a Friday and told me my SkyDweller was in. I told him I couldn’t get there till Monday, so he informed me he can’t hold it till then and moved it to another customer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Is there a London Ad one would recommend for a first time customer? From what I've read i think i might avoid WOS. Not gonna spend enough money there for them to take me seriously.

Indeed....they are out there...still customer oriented ADs. But I think the situation with underwhelming supply/overwhelming demand breeds the common bad AD practices/attitudes....it's only human/business.
I'm glad though you were treated with respect and had good service. |

i agree. The culture does get rotten at some and its nearly impossible to fix once it set in.

Nice to hear. ADs can smell out the genuines from the hype-achondriacs.

That much i can gather but I dont really have choice. Stevenage has no AD and without a car traveling to the closest AD isn't trivial. London is easy and cheap by train. Just want to wait-list for a Sub ND.

There is a big big difference between the big chains and the small AD's. Especially in London. Its going to be easier outside the city though.
