Patina question for Rolex 16570 polar explorer
Hi all, I have acquired the above from a local jewellery shop a couple of months back. Being a tritium dial, the dial and hands no longer glows and I thought i had it at a relativy good price, usd 3750 watch only.
Some questions 1)when will patina start forming in general 2)can I safely says that my watch will not patina since it's been 22 years? W series around 1996 3)how to encourage patina 4)if mine will not patina, will u guys recommend relume? Sent from my CPH1701 using Tapatalk |

Congrats on a great model.
1)when will patina start forming in general A: It has likely already started but invisibly. 2)can I safely says that my watch will not patina since it's been 22 years? W series around 1996 A: No, it could take many more years to darken the tritium plots. 3)how to encourage patina A: Just wear it - I wouldn’t try any extreme measures. 4)if mine will not patina, will u guys recommend relume? A: No Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I don't know about the patina, but 3750 is a hell of a deal for a 16570 on bracelet these days, just enjoy it

Nice catch! I'm not a big fan of patina, so probably would rather get a newer luminova dial and hands

My X serial 1991 just started turning in the last year. It's a beautiful pale yellow but too light for my iphone camera to pick up.
Here's one to look at while you wait. :) This is a '91 as well. |

I started out with a tritium polar as well. Kind of frustrates me that it doesn’t flow in the dark.
Not like I’ll ever go spelunking but I eventually got a transitional model with the luminova dial instead. Lume isn’t all that great but at least it glows in the dark. Congrats on the polar, love it so much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Get a service dial and hands with the superluminova.
Then put your originals in a safe for ten years or so. Viola! Patina! |
