Wat was your first Rolex you ever bought?
Man I will tell you for me it is very tough to try and narrow down just a few never mind 1.
I have been looking for months with not the slightest clue of what I want. I started with wanting a BLNR a JC then to a DayDate, Now I want a Root Beer. I guess I really don't know what I want, but I know I want everything. Its just for me, its a big deal because its a lot of money that I saved up to be able to make such a purchase at my age of 34. I was so set on the DayDate 1803 that I purchased some Arabic Day and Date wheels that should arrive today courtesy of DHL. Did any of you guys and gals have similar issues when it came to making a decision on what your first Rolex would be. I really have been leaning towards vintage GMT as of late. Maybe I'm afraid of buying one, receiving it then having buyers remorse for spending so much money. Anyone?

This one:
When it came to choosing, I just tried on every Rolex that interested me and got the one that felt the best.

Datejust II. For me the Datejust was always the classic Rolex because it's what my Dad had. Went with the II because I have a larger wrist. 4 years later added an Explorer II

The GMT C 8 years before. As you see in the picture, this was day 1, no scratches and brand new. Cheers. Sent from my iPhone X using Tapatalk

TT Sub. I still have it 32 years later, but will probably sell it sometime soon.
If you’re unsure which model to buy then you need to keep on trying them in in shops until you’re settled on one.

No, I knew what I wanted and saved to purchase it. My dads buddy wore a 16803 (TT LB) from the early 80's and I fell in love with that watch. By the time I was ready to buy they changed the reference to 16613LB but basically the same watch. That was 1987 and I have been loving Rolex since those days.
Obviously we did not have TRF back then so I was not invaded by all the watch stimuli we get here so pretty easy to stay on point back then.

First Rolex was for my 35th Birthday from my wife ... BLNR
Great watch and really loved it, honestly grew a bit tired of the blue and we had and investment opportunity come up so I unloaded a few things and this is one of the items I sold. (told you always regret selling your first )but I don't, at the end of the day its still just a watch and I knew I'd be back for another down the road. Fast forward to last week.. Purchased a new AirKing 116900.. while not for everyone I love it and personally am a bigger fan of it than my BLNR. |

The 1st one seems always like a big deal. Not easy to convince anyone to spend that much money on a watch that no one needs today. After the 1st step, most people tend to be a lot less conscious on the money part, willing to spend times more on the watches they like and regret picking the wrong 1st one due to budget discipline. |

Mine was the five digit bluesy 16613LB. I always wanted that watch growing up and thought of it as the quintessential Rolex model. I still love it (prefer the six digit ceramic bezel version) but mostly on another's wrist. I just don't feel comfortable wearing the two tone yet at my age. One day...

My first Crown - 16610LN M Series (Full Set)
I traded my First Panerai 005 for it + some top up. Feels so good wear my first Rolex but then again, i had to give up my first panerai for it. Not sure if its a W or a L. I was happy. Then sold my 16610LN for a 1977 Rolex 1680 (Which I sold after a year odd, made some money. Had to sell it due to some personal problems.) Then i rised up again, after a few years, ended up with 14060m (in between, a few 114060, 116610, 16570 etc) my first |

My first was a 14060M. 4 liner, rehaut engraved and lug holes.
I got an pretty crazy deal for it even a few years ago, but I couldn’t stop thinking about the SUBC so I traded up. I loved the 14060M but I don’t regret what I did. (I was going to upload a picture, but the size picture I have on my phone is too big) |

A series Seadweller new in 1999. Wore it for about 10 years, never serviced it and it kept nearly perfect time. Sold it to a forum member who PVD it or something similar, put a yacht master red second hand etc on it. Wish I had it back and I never sold it but C'est la via. It went to a good home and even if I wanted back, its been altered beyond recognition. Great great watch.

My GF gifted me a S/S DJ with a smoke gray dial for my 18th birthday. That was in 1977 and she paid $425 for the watch it was a lot of money for a watch back then. I never had the watch serviced and the watch was keeping perfect time till it was stolen in 1995.
