SS Report from AD

Sorry I didn’t take pictures of the other cases but took one, was busy trying them all on!
All SS models is for existing local buyers only so if u call or walk in it’s a straight up no. I picked up the D500 black face already last year and picked up the sub this year so I couldn’t afford to buy any other SS model. I’ll leave it for the next WIS.

The watches shouldn't be in the display case if they aren't open for general sales.

Pieces with purchase restrictions should be vaulted and handled appropriately.

AD is asking for drama.

I agree. We all know AD's have watches in the safe. I know mine does, but they dont flaunt them in front of people who cant buy them. Discretion goes a long way as AD's are already in an impossible situation.

I agree. What's the point of having them on display if they aren't for sale? They are only going to frustrate and disappoint potential customers. Obviously we understand that if we go in to an AD and see a Daytona sitting in the case there is a 99.9% chance that it isn't actually available for sale but the average walk in customer doesn't.

Yeah....I mean, this is a bigtime no-brainer, it's only going to alienate potential customers in favor of existing customers who may not even want to purchase them.

If I walked into a dealer and they refused to sell me an on-display watch that was not reserved (and even then I'd complain about it being on display), I'd walk out, never to return, boom, business gone forever. Beyond stupid if this is on the level.

That bottom picture is crazy. I’ve never heard of an SS Daytona in a case, much less with a SkyD Blue, BLNR, and LVc.

My oh my, first time ever I see a SS Daytona on display! I'm relocating to the same zip as your AD

So if the watches are only for existing buyers that is very short sighted, what happens when all your existing customers have bought what they require / or spent all their money, or they die. No new customers allowed - shop closes.....

they could have just gotten a delivery so its a big assumption they have been sitting any length of time.

Existing customers are already loyal to the AD and its easier to keep an existing customer than to find a new one who will also prove to be as loyal. Its about not alienating their existing revenue streams as they are not getting all that many of those watches to begin with.

If they dont have 10-20 existing big customers who want those watches then yeah the AD is in trouble, but most AD's dont have that problem.

Just once again - proof of principle — the watches are out there — you just have to find them.

I’ve said before — (as I have seen as well) many ADs in popular vacation spots (as well as airport boutiques) have some very surprising inventory if you show up at the right time...

Remember...it’s ‘us’...the WIS community that has hyped up these references...not ‘average Joe, watch buyer’...

I don't think it is us, our membership hasn't suddenly grown hugely, but we are shining a light on the situation that is already drawing in many new glory hunters and speculators, but that's an unavoidable by-product of a thriving forum whose time has come.

Absolutely — I think there is a definitely another facet of the WIS community that might not subscribe to the Forums as well.
