SS Blue Faced Submariner
I am ready to buy my first Rolex. I really liked the look of the DSSD D-Blue 116660, and I found one locally. Once I tried it on, I knew it was too big for me. :-(
I showed my wife a 2-tone blue/gold 116613, but she did not like the added gold. So, now I am looking for a submariner with blue face and SS. It looks like that was discontinued with the 16610, but I am not sure. Is there anything I should be looking for (or avoiding) when looking for a 16610? Thanks, Jeff |

Other than the TT or yellow gold the only submariner with a blue dial is the 116619 in white gold.
The 16610 will all have black dials. |

Me: Sorry hunny, I have to spend another $10K. :-) Her: I hope the white gold is soft enough for you to use it as a pillow while you live in the dog house. |

https://www.rolex.com/watches/submar...19lb-0001.html Try $36,850.00 if you buy it new from an AD. Used you're probably looking at around $25-28k and this is very dependent on condition. If you like the TT then get the TT. I love mine. Thankfully, my wife also loves my TT Sub. |

This is the cheapest blue dial Sub you will get. And the gold accents on the case add a little bling. |

I had suspected that. The main reason for my post was to confirm that. If I see one in that configuration, is it due to an aftermarket face or just an outright fake? I see one on popular sales site with a description "Rolex Submariner 16610 Oyster 40mm S/Steel Watch-Diamond Blue Dial-Blue Ceramic"

dob1, how soft is the white gold? I would be concerned that white gold would scratch much easier. Yours looks great. Is there anything special you need to do with it? I am used to SS or Ti watches.

As for care, it's exactly like the SS models since the gold is solid and not plated so there is nothing that could rub off. Feel free to use a soft toothbrush and some soapy water for the bracelet, vase, bezel, etc. You can even use Cape Cod cloth for mild polishing or to fix scratches that drive you nuts. Speaking of scratches that drive you nuts, once thing to consider, which you might also know from your TT models, is that the WG Submariner only comes with polished center links. Those are scratch magnets, very much like the SS model. |

I really like Ti for a dive watch. The Pelagos does look like a good solution.
I hate to say it, but there is a small part of me that wants to say Rolex. Most of the time I buy things for function, but spending more than a few hundred bucks on a watch takes it out of the function category. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

See Post 12, Pelagos is a great solution if you like blue diver in the Rolex family.

Buy the TT you want to buy for yourself. Tell your wife she's free to buy you one that she likes.

SS Blue Faced Submariner
I like my WG sub and you can get one mid 20s here from TS. I did. There are lots of threads on “is white too good soft for daily wear?” Have a look. My experience is that WG holds up just fine. The polished center links show scratches, but so do the polished links on a TT sub. I’ve had several TT subs. Be aware how heavy the WG sub is. I like the weight. Some don’t like the weight.
Happy hunting! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I had a Pelagos and absolutely loved it. Great option as some have said, however, I traded it in along with a SD43 and got the WG Sub. I don’t regret it one bit. It’s my favorite watch at the moment. It is, as some have mentioned, very heavy. I wasn’t expecting it so I didn’t like the weight at first. But I’m used to it now and it feels great.
I see your in beautiful Yorba Linda. Try Patrick from OC watch guy. He’s in Huntington Beach. I bought mine from him and I see he has another one. Patrick is a great guy and you can trust him 100%. Good luck! I hope you’re able to get one Here’s mine: |

I love the 116613LB, but it sounds like you want your wife to be happy... Happy Wife, Happy Life!
The 116619BLSO is a beautiful, yet costly option! You can try it on at your AD, and discover how much they are willing to discount. Then explore the trusted sellers, and see if it is worth exploring that route. There is also the 116622 Yacht-Master with blue dial. A beautiful SS option... So many possibilities... no wrong answers... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
