Wear a SS SubC to a job interview?
I have an interview Monday for a job (I'm a physician executive).
Should I wear my SS SubC or play it safe with a more traditional type? I could wear the SS Explorer 2 (older style) that has a bit smaller profile. Thoughts? |

You’re asking if you should wear your Rolex or your Rolex?
A similar thread was started recently. I say wear what you want, but the field will be split here. |

All he gets is positive comments and was recently hired (with years to go on his residency) while wearing said watch. I hire lots of people. In the end, t’s all about you. If the watch makes you self conscious don’t wear it. If the watch adds to your confidence, wear it. I hate these “under the radar” comments! |

If your concerned what they will think of your watch, then dont wear it.
Not because theres anything wrong with wearing a Sub to an interview, but because it obviously bothers you enough that you may be thinking about that and not concentrating on the questions they are asking you. Good luck...

No reason not to wear a Sub to an interview for a professional job - it’s a very under the radar watch. It’s not like you are thinking of wearing a PM piece dripping in diamonds after all!

For those they choose to go “under the radar” I wonder why you would own something that you would be ashamed for others to see. Are you self conscience about what you own? Do you drive a 2002 Honda with 350k miles on it or a 2017 BMW? What about your home? Are you ashamed of your success or are you living on credit? Now, if you are sales, maybe I get it. But here we are talking about a physician. To get into medical school you are in the top .1% in intelligence and had to have a GPA in an undergraduate program well north of 3.75. We are talking about people who by definition are successful. To be honest if I was interviewing for this type of position, you had 10 years of experience, and you show up wearing a Casio my first thought would be, “ this person doesn’t know how to manage his resources, or I wonder if he has had a judgement against him”. Apple Watch, no watch, high dollar watch would not solicit a negative thought. The exception might be an iced out watch or pulling up in a Ferrari. I can’t speak for others but when it comes to physicians most people want the cream of the crop regardless of the position. Dr’s who are the best, guess what, they make serious money. I expect the best Dr.s to drive decent cars, live in good neighborhoods and if they are into watches to own a nice watch. |

I hope they would hire you based on your work history and not what is on your wrist. Wear the watch that you feel most comfortable in.

So many dynamics and I think at the end of the day no one cares unless they are a serious watch enthusiast

Play it safe...wear a white coat, overshoes and glasses.
PPE is always the way.

You're overthinking. Don't wear a DSSD of some gigantic gold Hublot, but no one's going to have a problem with an understated 40mm steel watch.

The black dial Submariner is an under-the-radar watch in my opinion. I say wear your favorite timepiece and dazzle them with your mad skills!

The most important thing is that you are comfortable with it. If you're going to be worrying about it throughout the interview, don't wear it. Otherwise go for it!

Go ahead an wear the sub and don't worry about it. I wore a GMT Master II to a recent interview and got the job. The watch didn't have any impact as far as I know.
Good luck! |

I would wear my Sub even for plumber job interview. It is who I am.

Hmmmm...
In this case, I'd wear the Rolex.... unless you're wearing short sleeves and a tie, they probably will not notice what you have on. I'd go with the EX2. Classic and understated. That piece just oozes rock solid confidence to me. I'd |

I can’t imagine an employer saying, “he’s wearing a Rolex Submariner, so let’s not hire him.”

I say wear it. When I see people wearing Rolex watches, I tend to appreciate their value of a good watch.

Don't wear anything. Like it or not, there will be people who will judge if they notice so why take that chance?
You lose nothing if you just take it off for the duration of the interview. |
