So I have been offered a BNIB 116500 white dial for 17,500. Having a bit of mental trouble paying this premium so I have decided to look at my other options to help make the desicion. People keep telling me to look at PM in this range, but my budget is really no more than 20k. I would def look at YG, BUT i only want a bracelet and only a sports model. Not interested in oysterflex or leather. So obviously Daytona, and sub YG are out. Also looked at 15400 AP which I can get for same price, but water resistance and not ceramic has turned me off to it, plus I don't need a dressy watch. Not interested in Sub as I already have a PO dive watch. I want an everyday, wear in pool/shower/beach and not have to worry about it. I want something that is SOMEWHAT scratch resistance i.e. ceramic. I also want something that will hold its value so if I need/want to cash out I can get my money back out. Are there any other options out there in my price range im missing??

Why not buy one of the several other Rolex options? Pretty much any Rolex is good for pool/shower/beach.

If you want a Daytona, what is there to talk about? Other sports models will have a bit of a premium as well. No guarantee you will recoup your investment but the prices are not expected to change anytime soon unless a market correction really throws things off?

Get what you want.

You’re buying a luxury item not trying to settle for something that’s available ... imho it is ridiculous to consider anything less

This is exactly what I did (Milgauss gv and Speedmaster), and I have zero regrets. Honestly, I dont even think about the Daytona anymore, and it feels great!

All things considered. A BNB white Daytona C at $17.5k is a bargain in today’s climate. They’re consistently going for more than $20k BNIB. If this is your grail, who are we to talk you out of it. Yes it’s msrp is $12.4k, but if their consistent retai price, grey or used, is nearly $20k, then it’s true price is just that.

I truly though have mixed feelings on the issue as people consistently paying those prices continue to drive demand and keep those artificial prices high. In the end, I’ve chosen to wait it out and see if my prior purchases have or will have any clout moving forward for desirable pieces at my two ADs.

I agree. Buy what you love. Future potential value should not be a consideration, in my opinion.
