New Hulk - Second Thoughts?

Hello TRF,

A few days ago I was lucky enough to pick up a new Hulk from my AD. At first I was overjoyed and the time between being added to the waitlist and purchasing the watch was filled with anticipation. After having the watch though, I just can't seem to like it as much as I thought I would. I initially wanted an 116610LN but the Hulk waitlist was much shorter so I went with it instead.

What would you all do? Should I keep the watch and wear it a bit more or look to trade to an LN? The only downside is that I would feel terrible about trading the watch so soon and potentially tarnishing the great relationship I have with my AD.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts everyone!

Probably should give it some more time on your wrist.

It’s new, give it some time. It’s a lovely watch. Don’t make any hasty choices

Yeah just calling it green is definitely an understatement!

So true. I had one and sold it for less than I paid for it. I just could not wear the green.

I know what you mean. It looks beautiful in the pictures but i don't know if i love it enough to buy it. I have had a chance to buy it twice from my AD and both times i walked away for that particular reason. I would give it some time and see if it grows on you. you might want to put it away for a bit and bring it back out. That usually helps with watches. I would not make any hasty decisions. You will have no trouble finding a buyer if you really decide to sell it.

Hope you enjoy your watch

Very true! I will probably put it aside for a week and if during the time I have an itch to put it back on my wrist, then it will probably stay.

Before all the craze I tried it on a few times at an AD, but I did not like it.

If you don't like it, then trade/sell it. Who cares what your AD says? Why would they ever know.

I would really like to grow my relationship with my AD so that I have a better chance of getting the more sought after pieces in the future. I would not want my AD to assume I just buy to flip; that is far from the case, I am just very picky.

If I don't walk back into my AD with a Hulk in the future, they will most likely assume I flipped it and cease selling me watches, which is the LAST thing I want them to think/do.

If that is a concern, go back in to your AD with it on your wrist and speak with the salesperson. Maybe have them go over how to adjust the clasp or some other innocuous thing.

FWIW,
I really disliked the 16610 LV until I actually wore it. I had picked up a pre-owned model at a great price years back and tried to sell it. No luck, so I wore it and never looked back! It would still be my daily wearer, but it's due for a service.

Interesting story, I had no idea the Kermit was difficult to sell back when it was a current model. Lucky that you kept it!

The hulk is pretty sought fete these days, surprised that the 116610ln had a longer waitlist.

Give it time, if you decide to flip you won’t lose money on it.

For some ppl the green dial and green bezel dont like that combo.

Its not really a subtle green either - its more in your face green which I understand is not for everyone

I had one for several years but honestly it got to be too green and loud. It’s a beautiful war h though.

Yeah I always thought is was A LOT of green, it’s crazy all the hype on here about the LV. Sorry you don’t love it, I would give it some time, even if you hold on to it for 6 months I don’t see the grey prices going down anytime soon, you will never have a hard time selling it, maybe it will grow on you.

Follow your instincts. It’s 10x too green for me but it really is a beautiful watch. Swap it for what makes you happy.

Honestly I believe you will warm up to it and end up loving it. I think most people have the same reaction to the hulk. When I first saw the hulk, it was before any shortage and it was before I knew much about Rolexes. I couldn't wrap my head around why anyone would pay almost $10k for a green watch. But it started growing on me and now I would love to own one.

I'd definitely give it time to grow on you before you decide to sell it. I'm sure if you do end up going for the LN Sub, it will seem very plain and even a bit boring to you now after owning the hulk. You can always add the LN also!

If you trade it back I think they'll understand, I'm sure your not the first to have buyers remorse. That's just being honest. It happens.

As others have already said, give it time! It's definitely one of those watches that I never thought I would be interested in, but having seen a few in person it really is a beauty!

I’ve had the same thoughts, too green. It is such a popular reference but despite all the talk and praise, I have noticed it is one of the most flipped references. Move on and get what makes you happy.

I love mine, but I agree, the green can get a bit overwhelming.. Which is why I wear the LN daily, and reserve the LV for special occasions.. LV is stunning, LN is a classic.

The LVc is for those who like louder watches much like a Bluesy, Platona, etc... I wonder if you are really more conservative and the Hulk doesn’t fit your style?? There is no wrong answers but those that bond with the LVc, really bond strong after a few weeks. You might want to give it a month of wearing first.
