Rolex Packaging- Dissapointing?
I bought my first Rolex this week, a white Explorer 2. The watch is amazing, I can find very little fault. My only dissapointment would have to be with some aspects of the packaging. The outer white box with the Rolex crown is nice, the inner green case is ok. Some of the booklets looked quite dated, and didn't really have very much detailed info in.
I have an Omega Seamaster also, and have to say that I think Omega's packaging and presentation is better than Rolex. Omega comes standard with a leather based box. I think maybe Rolex could improve some aspects of the presentation. Very interested to hear what other Rolex fans think? |

At least they could made the box a little more comfortable.

I believe the 'accessories' are just satisfactory esp compared to other high end brands. Patek for example comes with a beautiful wooden box.
The watch is the important thing and glad you like it. SOooooooooooooooooooo comfortable is the Exp II!!! |

It seems like some of the other brands, present their watches better. Perhaps Rolex is the only brand that doesn't have to. They could probably sell their watches in old tin cans, and still they would sell.

In all the years of collecting Rolex watches I have yet to see a box worthy of the price of the watch enclosed.

I tend to agree with jas55, I think the packaging is decent but somewhat underwhelming.
It's true that the watch is the imost mportant part but I do feel they have room for improvement, comapred to the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean packaging presentation I also purchased this year. It's a minor point, but still noticable. |

i agree the rolex box kind of sucks.when i got my first rollie last year i was very disappointed with the packaging but loved the watch,i suppose thats what really counts.Rolex could learn a thing or two from omega or panerai, those guys know how to pack a watch.hell ,even iwc with their minamalist approach is better.

I picked up a Hamilton as a Christmas gift and it's packaging was better. But, to be honest, the packaging just sits in a closet or drawer anyway.

I don't care at all about the boxes, I keep them and all the papers but never look at them. I'm shocked that you would really care about the box.

They are expensive enough already, plus I don"t wear the boxes.

By keeping the boxes cheaper, considering Omega and others make fancier boxes, it serves the purpose of giving the impression that the 'other' brands are more box than watch. This ultimately helps maintain the 'exclusivity' appearance of the Rolex brand - imo.

If I'm paying $30k+ plus for a new Rolex Daytona in gold or a DD is it to much to ask to get a better box then a new $4k Air-King? Just because its a little bigger box doesn't make it better. Get with the program Rolex and spend some of those profits in a better box and less on Billboard ads.

I agree. If you're going to drop 5K or more on a product, they should've spent a little more on the packaging.

I agree as that's one of their best boxes produced, but for a $20K+ or $30k+ watch it's totally substandard.

I feel your pain. I just bought my dad a Luminox 1822 for Christmas, and the box was nicer than the box for my Rolex. I wasn't really disappointed with the Rolex box, just Impressed with Luminox.

i love my rolex but the packaging is not much better than the invicta diver i bought for my nephew. it was very similar. my rolex box and stuff is just sitting in my closet and it is adequate but there is no excuse for it to not have been allot nicer than a 100.00 invicta. it even has the waves across the top.
