You are so right. But I think in their case they chose not to invest in new technologies and keep up with the changes in commerce. From what I've read they didn't invest in their employees either so it is a recipe for failure. Then there's Amazon & game over. Very sad.

Or, blame the private equity firm that bought them, saddled them with hundreds of millions in debt, collected a bunch of bonuses for themselves and then jettisoned while leaving the employees with no severance...

I don’t despise Walmart because I grocery shop there
from time to time .
I utterly despise Amazon though .... if they went down I

Personally I really don’t see a need for Amazon.
Plenty of other venues to shop at and still save ...

Amazon has done nothing special except destroy other

Got my first gameboy color there, used to get treated to a new hot wheels sizzler when I would go as a kid, got my peg perego ride in suv there. Going to be sad raising my future kids without this store. Lots of good memories goin there with my parents and grandpa.

I grew up going here all the time. Not necessarily buying things, but just looking around and being in awe of everything. I remember buying the original Nintendo there, and my Gameboy (which I still have, and it works). I think every LEGO set I have was purchased there.

It makes me sad to think that my son won't get to experience the joys of running around a giant toy store and being treated to something he wants; wherever that may occur for him, I don't think it will hold the same value later in life.

That picture is almost heart breaking for the millions of us who loved that store. Sad day, indeed.

I use to go there and buy video games. I remember you’d take a paper coupon from a vinyl sleeve up to the register and they had the games behind the counter. I’m sure I also went when I was younger than that but I can’t recall.

I am literally heartbroken that my 10 month old daughter will not experience the joy of running through aisles and aisles of toys. I am going to take her one last time tonight and take many pictures.

It gives me some sort of comfort to see that I am also not the only one who feels this way. That image of Geoffrey tugs at my heart strings and literally has made me shed tears. The memories I have from my childhood that are associated with Toys R Us are some of my fondest.

We are losing part of our childhood, never to be replaced. I know we have the Walmarts and Targets of the world, but it isn’t the same at all.

So incredibly sad.
