Do strap changing marks bother you?

So I put my 14060 back on the bracelet from NATO since I realized I prefer it on metal more. I haven't really been changing straps on it more than once since I've owned it. Well the spring bar got away from me and even though I tapped it it still put a scratch on back of the lug. The tape fell off as the spring came out. I was pretty ticked off that I did that since I'm usually very careful. Now the scratch is not noticeable unless I really look at it, but I know its there.

Question, do others on here get bothered by strap changing marks as well? I know watches get scratched, but for some reason this one bugged me.

On the back of lugs? No, it's pretty common with 4 digit models, and so I've gotten used to it. Suspect it wouldn't bother me on 5 digit models.

It bugs me, but I can live with it. I always tape my lugs when changing a strap, so I've never put a meaningful mark on the watch myself. I've had several watchmakers scratch the lugs, though, and that peeves me. They could easily tape it, of course, but some watchmakers seem to take the stance that scratches where you can't see don't matter, so they don't even try to avoid them.

Really, did they put a noticeable mark?!? That would make me angry if they are pros doing that.

So I try to tape up my lugs whenever I make a change.

They bother me but sometimes they just happen. If ever there is a spot for a scratch it’s on the back lug though. Worse things...

Use electrically tape for bracelet changes, not painters tape. But I don't care so much anymore.

I use tape as well, but a few scratches on the back side of the lugs doesn’t really bother me.

Not if I did it and it’s back of Lug. Otherwise yes they do.

Doesn’t bother me at all. There are worst scratches on the upside of my bracelet and case that don’t bother me.

I don't have any marks on my lugs. I use Mylar Tape on the back of the lugs when I reinstall a bracelet/strap.

Yes. So much I sold my watch (can’t recall which) and bought a Bergeon tool. Now it’s 30sec or less job.

You can easily brush them out with a glass fibre pen

Any scratch no matter how small is doing me damage.

I am slightly petrified of changing any of my bracelets in that I will be risk blemishing the factory finishing of the lugs.

I do the best I can and typically do not cause any scratches but sometimes I do. On the underside of the watch no big deal. On the front of the lugs I fix it. I have gotten to where I just leave most of them alone except my Panerai and it is setup for strap changes.

It's inevitable in the long run, even if you use a scotch tape..
and sometimes I'm lazy to put the tape specially when I'm on a hurry.. lol

The sort you describe here don't phase me. Think of the activities and environments a Submariner was designed for! A little wabi anywhere on a Sub is normal.
