Adam - is this tied into any tribute for the diver who lost his life in the rescue efforts? Any significance for the number of 248 pieces in the limited edition?

No, this has been in the works for quite a while already. I'm not sure about the 428 significance. Seiko does quite a lot of Limited Edition pieces for the Thai market, which is one of the largest (some say the largest) outside Japan.

Here's another Marinemaster from a couple of years back that was limited to 222 pieces.

Yeah - and less than a year ago they did this one for the Thai market at 456 pieces.

Hard to figure the numbers unless they are auspicious in Thai culture.

I'll be in Bangkok over the weekend and will have a look around a few Seiko ADs if I get time. I will miss the launch of this new one by one day, though I probably wouldn't buy it having just picked up the green one last week.

So there have been 7 zimbe pieces so far?

2 MMs, a turtle, a tuna, a samurai, a shogun and a sumo?

Have you seen any specs, I can’t find any. Bezel does not look ceramic but I wonder if the crystal is sapphire. Curious how much of the SLA019 changes carried over.

That's really cool looking. I'd like to see live photos of it to see what the blue looks like in real life, how dark it is, etc. Thanks for the heads-up, Adam!

Bezel insert is aluminium and crystal is Hardlex, so it's not exactly a bargain at that price. The SLA019 seems much better value.

Personally, I want an aluminium insert any day before ceramic. I need a watch to wear, not to baby. With ceramic is it too brittle imo.

I put sapphire crystals in two MM's I owned, in the long run I decided I liked the hardlex better.

Oh wow, not sapphire or ceramic bezel insert...not the end of the world, but man Seiko really cheaped out, knowing people will buy it anyway.

The red looks a bit dominant in the pics but ive seen real life pics and its actually quite subtile on the dial, looks great.
As with all Thai LE's this one will sell out fast.

The red accents aren't my cup of tea as well.

Adam, your green MM is so much cooler.

I kind of like it. Thailand gets a ton of one off models. They have some pretty whack Seiko Monster versions that came out also.

I just saw a few of these in Bangkok.....they're rather nice in person. The red accents really give it a nice pop of colour.

Main thing holding me back is the price and that I've never had good luck with seiko mechanical watches accuracy wise.
