My New DayDate II Pictures!

Well,
I All I can say is that I have been wanting a rolex pres ever since I saw my fathers years ago when he bought his. I told my self "thats a must have Rolex to have forever" Seperates the boys from the men IMHO.

The smaller Daydate pictured in fact belongs to my father as I barrowed it just for these photos to give everyone here an idea of the size difference being I have not seen anyone else post actual live shots of this watch yet. Sorry for teh quality of pictures, my camera is a bit out of date..

I first bought the rolex daydate MOP diamond dial and was wearing it for a week.. The more i wore it the more I wished it was bigger.. I remembered seeing an Ad about the new Daydate II.. I fell in love with it and had to have it as I felt it would set better on my whrist as I like bigger watches being used to wearing breitlings and panerai watches most of the time..

Anyways I called up my Ad and they just so happened to have a DD II in the vault. Being I took off all of the stickers and covers and the warrenty card was already filled out, I had to pay a little more for the exchange even tho is watch was $2,000 less then the original 36mm daydate I purchased..

I have to say I love this watch. the fluted bezel is so big and bold as well as the dial. Now that I have this I prefer it without diamonds as it is less dressy.. I love the black wave dial, i was not too fond of the champagne diamond dial for this watch I think this dial looks the best for the DD II IMO..

It is just such a monster compared to the 36mm... I had to do it, as I will have this for the rest of my life I wanted to make sure it is exactly what I was looking for.. Let me know what you guys think about it. Any questions or comments are welcome.

PS: I flipped my panerai 279 and TT Sub to be able to buy this watch.. Please let me know what you all think about that move?

Cheers

Good move. I always thought the Daydate was the ULTIMATE Rolex. I love the arabic numbers: they always seemed fancier than batons or Romans. Personally I prefer the DD I for the size, but I can understand the logic if you're going to get a DD, get the biggest, badest one you can afford and find. I wouldn't worry about the money you lost in upgrading to the DDII; if you're like me, you can't put a price on getting EXACTLY what you want. Life is too short to wear a watch you don't absolutely love!

Very cool!

The only thing I think would look better is if the date wheels were gold like your dad's. The white is........very white.

Congrats!

I was at an AD today, tried on the Day-Date II and agree with you. I liked it better than the original. My father also has a Prez and I always felt it was a bit small for my tastes.

I know I'm going to get jumped on but I have always equated the original DD to being the "senior citizen" model. Work hard, turn 50-60 and buy a Prez. The sales associate said as much when referring to the more "mature" male who looks at buying a DD.

That being said, I definitely thought the DDII was appealing and again the clerk said "more upper 30-40 year olds have been attracted to it". I think it was a smart move by Rolex. Keep the classic look of the original and add a more modern size to bring in younger buyers.

Bottom line, I think you made a great choice.

Wear it in the best of health!

thank you all for such kind words. I really love this watch. It's funny, it really almost feels like i'm wearing my breitling and when i look down its a rolex! the super pres bracelet is wider too on this watch.. it's everything I could ask for. It's almost as if rolex built this watch custom to my specs.. i think for any of you who are interested in this watch or even curious, you need to go into your AD and see it in person, spend some one on one time with this watch. I wonder if these are hard to come by the DaydateII watches being my AD didn't even have it out as they kept it in the back... the only reason why I would think it's not flying off shelves is due to the high cost and current economy problems no one is really spending durring this time..

You know what I think, I think Rolex need's to make a DDII in stainless steel, i think that would be like the next SS daytona!!
