New (nov 08) Rolex Sea Dweller & Submariner (dateless?)
Hello All,
I am new to this site, and this is my first post. Just a quick question for those of you that are very very familiar with the new rolex models. I currently have a 1996 Submariner. I live in Thailand, was visiting friends in singapore. We are out and about one afternoon, he was interested in a new rolex. We stop by a rolex store in china town, which i the only listed store on the rolex website, as I have just checked today (further investigation next month when i go back to confirm same address, but was definately on the same street). Anyways, here is the issue I have. I havent looked for a new rolex since 1996. Now I am wanting a Datejust, with the diamond dial and jubilee bracelet. My friend was after the submariner or sea-dweller. The owner of the store back in January 2008 quoted me a price of 11,000 sing dollars, which was close to what I was quoted in Houston Texas two months prior. Now, 11 months later, he is quoting me 9000 sing dollars, which is a big difference, but also the only model that he is dropping price on is the datejust. Cant really quite remember what he quoted for the submariner or sea-dweller. But the price has got my attention and I plan on doing more research when I get back to singapore in January (I am currently in Malaysia). He was trying to sell my friend that lives in singapore a "new Model" submariner or a "new Model" Sea Dweller that does not have the date display. My question - Has anyone heard of the new model rolex Sub or Sea-dweller (deep sea) not having the date display? I have just been through the rolex website gallery with a fine tooth comb and have not seen on piece of literature to support this or a single photo to support this. Any info or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys BJS |

there is a sub no-date, but it is not new... perhaps the AD was refering to a new series of it? do you know if it was an M or V (newer of the 2) series?

also this particular watch, sub no-date, does not have SEL (solid end links) and the other sport models do. perhaps another member of this forum will post pictures of it and you will see.

Thanks Stephens,
This sorta answers my question. Its just in asia you can't always be too sure, LOL... If you stand still too long they will copy you! haha. I dont know if it was an M or V, as I dont call myself much of an enthusiast, you know. It was just 1 year ago, the guy wasnt budging on price, and a month ago, he was coming down 2000 sing dollars on one model, and was trying to sell a no date sub. I have never seen before. But like I said, there is alot about Rolex that I dont know. Your information has been more than helpful!!!! I appreciate the info bud. Cheers, BJS |
