Do you wear your Rolex on the golf course?

I'll wear mine during practice rounds or Pro-Am, but not during an event. I was told that the motion of the golf swing could damage the inside? I'm pretty sure this is not correct, but has anyone heard of this?

This topic has been beat to death on TRF.....but NO I don't wear a watch when I play more for comfort than the risk of "hurting" it. I'd bet that you probably have a much smoother contact than me.....I tend to hit it FAT......ALOT...:)

I don't! But then I don't play golf.

The only guy on Tour that I know off that wear a Rolex is Phil M. He sports a different Cellini every round. I should say he alternates them.

I play three to four times a week and never wear a watch when I play. The debate about whether or not golf hurts a watch will continue for eternity. But why take the chance...slow play on the course is bad enough, I sure don't want time it.

I have a SS DJ that I wore everyday. I would wear it on the driving range 1-2 times a week and on the golf course once a week. golfing. I abuse that watch and do everything with it during my everyday activities. Never Babied It. Got it all scratched up. 5 years later. brought it to the Service Center to do a routine maintenance and came back like brand new. One thing I must say about Rolex craftmanship. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

I wore my OP Date TT for 4 years playing golf most days. I stretched one of the main links. The timing was fine no problems there, but the impact on the ground caused one of the centre TT links to stretch.

My advise is if you are playing a lot of golf then don't. Big Phil probably gets a new YG DJ or two every year so does not have to worry.

I have a Sub and wear it golfing. I also wear it when I go to the range and fire my pistols.

I screwed up one of my old panerais by wearing it on the course. Had to send it in for service...Ended up costing me $950 to correct the problem. So, now when I hit the course the watch stays in the bag!

I don't wear any watch when I play, from a comfort standpoint. But I have honestly hit thousands of balls while teaching golf over the last 10 years and never had any problems.

Phil is really the only guy I know that will wear one. Most of them stay in the bag until the round is over. The majority of the watches I see are YG DD and TT Subs.

He does, but it is a Cellini that is about 35mm and paper thin. I don't think you can harm your watch, maybe a freak accident, but for me it has more to do with comfort.

It was just an odd statement that a guy told me during a Canadian Tour event. I didn't think a golf swing could do much damage, but I take mine off before I hit the range.

I think people worry about the repeated shock from the impact. I am no watchmaker, I have no idea what the long term repercussions are, but I have a student that literally hits thousands of balls a week with a 16610 on. And he wears it loose as hell, so if the head isn't getting shocked, I know the bracelet is getting beat up, LOL!
