Is the Expl II polar 16570 a sleeper?
I have recently regained interest in this watch. It hasn't moved in price as much as all other rolex sports, I like the white dial and GMT function as sort of a "under the radar" travel watch.
Any opinions? Thanks! |

I think you’re spot on. It’s a great value compared to other models and their current pricing. A great stealthy travel watch for sure!

I agree- for reasons I can’t explain, prices on this one have not skyrocketed, which make it one of the best pre-owned deals right now for someone looking to buy a 5 digit to actually wear ... IMO.

It's a great under the radar Rolex. Possibly the last true tool watch.

For sure! It's a great bargain (in comparison to other Rolex watches). I've barely taken mine off since I got it back from service.

Prices have been breaking the 6k barrier for 3186 models in the last six months, I've noticed.

been in my collection for about 4 years and has become a steady travel companion for the ease of use and its less obvious appearance than my sub.
since i have purchased, prices are up about 25% speaking of tool watches, one of my favorite threads 6 or 7 years ago, (i can not find it) was a guy showing off his Exp II that he wore everyday on his job as an auto mechanic... man did that watch have a story to tell

If my memory serves it was given as a gift from his wife and he never took it off.
It very much makes me think of billy bob Thornton role as a mechanic in the movie I had looked for it in the past to no avail, it may have been a thread regarding tool watches. It’s always a joy to see someone wearing the heck out of their watch.

Well, it was a sleeper until you told everyone about it. Now everyone knows.

It's a great watch, far superior (in my personal opinion) than the the new version. Poor photo due to it being cold and was shivering... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

My favorite and for me, the most comfortable to wear. Gets 80-90% of my wrist time.

Exceptional watch!
I would have to disagree about pricing though, last year you could find plenty of them around the $3k mark. |

Funny this thread was just started, I have been toying with the idea of picking one up too. Was undecided on either dial and whether 5/6 digit models. I like them all.

I had a 5 digit black dial 16570 and loved it; only sold it to fund a 16710 Pepsi, which I don’t regret. I do miss it thought; it’s a great watch, super versatile, and feels indestructible. If funds allow in the future, may pick one up again,

Thanks for all the responses everyone! I do really like this watch, but I found a really great deal on a 16700 which I couldn't pass up!

The 16570 is a horrible Rolex. Only watch nerds and people with no style buy them.
