G'Day from Australia - searching for a bracelet for my 5513
Hi All
My name is Gilly and I'm a budding vintage watch collector. Currently, my stable includes three Rolex watches: two Submariners and an Explorer 1. My first "serious" piece is the 5513. It is a 1970 Mk I original matte dial, metres first with matching hands in very good condition, and with original box and certification, and subsequent Rolex service papers. The only feature of this watch that is not correct is the 1994 oyster bracelet. I purchased the watch from a very respected vintage dealer, knowing the bracelet is a later model. Any suggestions or leads that fellow members might offer would be greatly appreciated. i would also love to know what bracelet numbers to look for if I want a 1970 period correct example. Cheers, |

I have the same situation as you with my 5512, but I decided to wear the newer bracelets because the old bracelets are becoming so rare, valuable, and also relatively fragile. I have an old bracelet but I keep it in the case. I had a C&I I used which isn't as valuable.
Here is a great thread I end up going to a few times a year that will answer your questions: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=347108 |

Hi Mr Nemo,
Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I appreciate your input and the great link! I would also like to apologise to the Forums for not reading the FAQ properly before asking about the bracelet reference. Rookie error on my part! Sorry silly me. You're right about the challenge of older bracelets; my dealer thought that the original bracelet must have given up the ghost; funnily enough, the 1994 replacement has its own bit of history and was worn by the previous owner for many years which is cool. Thanks again for the thread. In the meantime, I have just bought a really nice leather strap for the 5513 and parked the 1994 bracelet for the time being. I'm really happy with the strap. I also have an excellent condition 14060 on its original Oyster bracelet to keep my happy while I hunt for a 93150 vintage. Thanks again and have a great day! |

PS. What I meant was the 93150 may have to do if the absolutely correct type can't be found or even identified. For many years, my watch was owned by a Californian gentleman called Jerry Decter, who passed away in 2009. The watch later came to Australia via a HQ Milton purchase by a Sydney collector. The watch was originally sold in September 1970 in Hong Kong, so perhaps the bracelet reference is 7206 rather than 9315!
I am very new at all this so the end link references are still a puzzle too. Thanks again for suggesting that great thread! |

Thank you for the warm welcome / My next piece
Thank you everyone,
I greatly appreciate your warm welcome all, and for your very helpful feedback on my 9315 or 7206 bracelet search. I will keep you posted. Any thoughts on my next piece? Currently, my collection is. 1. The 5513 Sub - 1970, metres first matte dial, one million percent original, full set box and papers, 1994 bracelet (ex HQ Milton piece) 2. A 14060 Sub - 2000, excellent condition, full set, daily driver 3. 114270 Explorer 1 - 2005, excellent condition, full set, lovely watch 4. (my late grandfather's circa. 1960 Seamaster that he bought new) I am pondering a 1016, or a white 1680, or a Tudor Snowflake... I hope you are all having a great week. |

Welcome! I lived in Sydney for a couple years back in '00 to '02. Got to visit again a few years ago too. One of my favorite cities!
