When buying a new Rolex watch can you specify exact dial type?

I seem to remember a year or more ago talk on the forums about being able to have very granular control over which dial you could order for certain watches.

A friend is looking to buy a Datejust 41 on a jubilee with blue dial and diamond markers.

He loves the look of the 36mm dial as it is very clean around the markers but the one offered at the AD for the 41mm has a minute track printed on the dial which he isnt so keen on as it adds a little clutter.

The 36mm he likes:

What is offered on the 41mm:

Is this the case or is it possible to choose which dial you get when the AD places the order?

Thanks everyone :)

You can only specify dials and colors that are available for that model. You cannot pick other model dials to be fitted.

AFAIK there are more configurations possible than on the website. Check the model book that your AD should have and it should list all the available dials for each watch.

I dont think you are going to be able to do what you are suggesting though unless its "available" for the 41 which i dont know.
