I'm an idiot...

Obviously I'm not smart enough to figure out how to do a double quote of someone else's post....

If someone has "quoted" and responded to someone else's post, how can you re-quote both of those posts and put yours as the third? Make sense?

Or how do you quote two different posts and respond to them separately in the same (new) post?

Open a new browser page for each of the multiple quotes.

Do the quote function. And then cut and paste the whole thing of each one. Into one page.

At least that’s how I do it. It’s a pain. So I don’t do it much. Especially as I’m typically on my phone.

Just click on the ‘+’ icon to the right of the ‘quite’ button on all posts you want to quote. Click quote on the last one

Seriously, there has to be a better way.....I want it to show a quote inside of a quote. The way I just did it doesn't show which response is in response to whom....

This is how it should look...just like in PM's when you respond back and forth it stacks them.

Can this be done easily? On other forums it's a single click....

Look in the bottom right hand corner, you see the “quote” button and right next to it a similar one with quotes and a plus sign + That is the multiple quote button.

Maybe I'm not explaining this well, Lol...

I'll post a pic...
Nested quotes can end up filling a lot of page space on a site. Readers end up doing a lot of scrolling past all the multiple quotes to get to the new comments. Sometimes those comments get dwarfed by the quote box and are hard to spot. At least to my old eyes.

Responding like this between each quote can help somewhat.

Here you go. Hit the quotation marks for each desired post but hit “quote” on the last one you wish to include.

One caveat. You cannot just click the multi-quote button once, you have to do it for each post you want to respond to.

What I do is, I read each reply, if something strikes me , I click the multi-quote button each time, and I keep reading. Once I am finished , I then hit the reply button and every single multi-quote I was interested in, will appear. I then look for where they end and then post below each one.

1. Read the thread.

2. Hit multi-quote each time you want to reply to something.

3. At the end of all the quotes .............hit post reply. (to the left at the bottom of the screen).

4. Find where each quote begins and ends............post below each one.

Great instructions!!
I gotta say, this place is special. Not many forums would get this kind of member help for others.

I don't understand why when you quote a post it doesn't quote the whole thing.

The multi quote button doesn't tell you who responded to whom. It just takes each quote individually.

Maybe I'm not explaining this well, Lol...

See this picture...each quoted post stays in the string of posts. If I quoted the post "I'm an FFL...." Then all of the previous posts would continue in the string above it because they were all responses to each other. They aren't each split up like they are on here, so you can tell who responded to whom in the string. Or I have the option of only quoting the last post if I wish. Basically, you can "quote all" or just quote the bottom one.

Make sense?
