Next Watch: Thinking Out Loud..

This is my current Rolex lineup. I love them all. The Sub sits in my safe virtually pristine, though, since I picked up my SD43 right after I got the Sub. I've been considering selling it for some time, but its tough to let it go for some reason. I'll wear it around the house occasionally and really think it looks sharp, but since I know I'll likely sell or trade it at some point, back into the safe it goes so I don't ding or scratch it.



Anyway, I've been looking at adding something that is different from what I currently have. I'd like it to be somewhat versatile, but more than anything I'd want it to pair well with a sportcoat and/or suit. Soon I'll be starting a new job that I consider to be a significant achievement, and I want a watch to mark the occasion. The Daytona and BLNR have served as my "dressy" watches thus far, and I think they do well in that role for me and my personal style. Wanting a new watch, though, has me questioning what I truly want.

I've been strongly considering the Speedy FOIS of late and think that would be a really great addition. I passed my Speedy Pro to my son a few years ago and miss it. I'd pick up another, but since I already have had one I don't want to do a repeat. Thats why the FOIS is so appealing: great "vintagey" vibe and the fact that it looks great on leather. Just something a bit different.

I've tried on a few DJs and wanted to like them, but they are simply too conservative for my style. I'm looking for something one might consider to be a dressy sport watch (if that makes any sense). Thats how I think of my Daytona and BLNR anyway. Well, enter the LB...I've tried it on and think it looks pretty sharp, and I like that its colors are different and that its a TT. If I did go with the LB, I'd almost certainly get rid of the Sub.



Not really sure where I'm going with this post, but I'd be happy to hear any thoughts you might have. Cheers.

I’d also definitely recommend the FOIS. I love mine. Especially since the proportions are spot on at 39mm...and no crown guards, the way a chronograph should be.

Maybe look at some of the older DJs? The new DJ41 doesn't have as many "fun" dials as the older models. You definitely need some color, a fluted bezel, and a jubilee in that collection.

Sub and SD share some redundancy. I would exchange one for the new CHNR or a 41 mm DJ for diversity.

A friend of mine just got the FOIS and it’s really sharp. While it will look good with a suit, it’s certainly not a dress watch.

+1 on the FOIS. I have the CK2998 which is the same case and love it. I sold my first Speedy because I thought it was too big, however, the FOIS case is a nice size.

I’d love to see the CHNR in the flesh.

I just can’t love the LVc for some reason. I was offered one but passed.

Full PM is more than I’d like to spend, but a small consolidation might be appealing. I tried on a yellow gold DD today and like it. Besides the sub, I’m not sure which other(s) I would put towards it. The WG Daytona is a beauty, but I’ve not seen it person. That would probably be my choice.

If you don’t like the DJ and assuming that you discard DD for the same reason, I would consider an Exp or a SD (if you like that big size)

are not very fond of TT but it works on the Bluesy LB.

Nice line up and a lot of diversity here. May I suggest doing some introspective. Do you really need all these different functions. 2 Divers, a Chrono and 2 GMT's. You could maybe settle on one killer watch that you really need, use and fits your lifestyle...

116619 offers understated wealth. Sporty but can also work as a dress piece in some situations.

126715 CHNR is a stunning piece which can be worn with any dress attire. Believe it or not the Everose gold is very understated which means it will fit with any sports wear.

SkyDweller has two very useful complications. The silver dial with romans has been discontinued but you can still find them at AD’s. The 42mm makes it really sporty and the YG will fit with any dress shirt/jacket.

I know you didn’t want to spend the money on a PM piece, but it sounds to me like you deserve it with your new job classification.

If it were me, you can’t beat the CHNR. Rolex absolutely killed it with this reference. Wore mine into the Rolex AD this afternoon and all the sales reps came out to lust after it. I was in board shorts, flip flops and a Hurley T. Fit right in with everyone else here in SoCal.
