Of all the phone calls . . . .

You’ve had saying the watch you asked for is in -

Which got you most excited at the time?
Was it a flash in the pan or is it still your favourite watch?
Or do you still even own it?

My most memorable was for the D500. It came the afternoon after the morning I called about it...and was told I was 8th.

I have two..

Phone call to say my Daytona would arrive in a day or so for it to never materialise and some story about a bi metal turned up instead!
Wasn’t pleased and after a few calls it got sorted

The 15407 call has to be the best ever

D500 for me. It was probably their favorite call as well because it meant I would stop bothering them.

I often wonder if I’ve annoued them by calling too much. But I do kind of think ‘out of sight, out of mind’ so call anyway

For me, it was a return call letting me know the AD had a 14060M in stock. I wanted this to be my first Rolex; however, I waited - foolishly, until the model had been discontinued. Called around to many ADs to inquire if in stock, most of the time I was asked to leave a message and wait for a call that never came. Until I tried a smaller AD who, although they had one remaining 14060M left, agreed to even hold it for me until a I could pick it up. Suffice to say they earned my business for not just the Submariner, but Explorer as well.

Who was the AD, if you don’t mind...

Blue Sky-Dweller. Loved it from afar but never gave it a thought as I don't have a relationship with an AD and I would never pay the premium for it on the grays. A friend who was on the list for himself since it was announced got the call and gave me first dibs (amazing guy) since he had too much going on at the time

Our deal is if I ever want or have to punt it he has the right of first refusal ;)

There was no call, just a big wooden crate from Geneva, and I even signed and swiped my own warranty card. RSC privileges

5712 was completely out of the blue and unexpected, so that one for the surprise factor.

My black dial 116500 was cool because the previous day I was on holiday and a dealer had one in the safe, but wanted me to bundle it with a gold piece. Kindly told him to Foxtrot Oscar, and the next day my phone rang and it was my regular AD, who had one waiting for me when I got home.

About 6 weeks ago, after I sold the last of my Rolex watches, I contacted my AD and mentioned I'd like to buy a new SubC 114060. I was told it would likely be many months before they received another but, if I wished, I could place a deposit to ensure the next one would be mine. I said "Nah, I'll just wait." Two days later my AD texted me with the news that a 114060 had surprisingly arrived. It wasn't convenient for me to immediately rush into town so I asked them to hold it for me until the afternoon. By the time I picked up the watch that afternoon the AD had two other customers lined up behind me. It was a happy day!

This is going to sound a little silly, but when my first BLNR came in shortly after it's release. Even better than the DaytonaC, D Blue, etc. I had longed for the watch since its release and savored in the moment when it came in.
