A celebration! And another antique clock give away
Ladies and Gents of TRF,
As some of you know, I collect antique clocks, specifically those made by a company called Telechron, and more specifically pre-WW2 models. I am hardly a hard-core collector, but own about a dozen which I present at my (NAWWC) shows and display in my home. Over all, my collection is not worth probably an inexpensive Rolex, but I truly enjoy it. I specifically like a model that was kind of a novelty and looked like a GE monitor top refrigirator, it was given out to customers that purchased a fridge as a free-giveaway, and was never sold in stores. This was from 1928 until 1931 and there are two basic models, I own one of both. Well, through my research.... I found out there was a VERY rare THIRD model, actually produced in 1927. No pictures (that I could find) exist but it was described in a couple books. For the last five years, I have devoted my searches to find one. WELLLLLLLL..... A couple weeks ago, I met up with a collector that had one, he sent me pictures, and I offered him my kidney. He was a super nice guy, said he wanted it to go to a collector that would appreciate it, and sold it to me for a steal! I GOT MY GRAIL CLOCK!!!!! But I am getting way ahead of myself, I plan on doing a thread later on with pictures of all three models and a detailed explanation. Right now the clock is at a Telechron expert for restoration, it will probably take a month or so before it is finished and I can’t wait!!!!! I am already looking for room to display it, and being that I have too many clocks as it is already, have decided to give one of mine away. Anybody that is interested, post in this thread and on Sunday evening, at 4:37:29 PM Local Pacific US time I will pick a random winner. It is a 1937 model called “the Majestic” and designed to sit on the desk of a sucessful individual.... so Jocke doesn’t qualify. Below is a picture of the give-away clock. Good luck! |

I would guess maybe a month. I sent it to an expert on Telechron restoration I have used before and he is the absolute best. He emailed me today with his preliminary thoughts and I am so excited to receive it when finished! |

Guys, I am sorry but I have to cut this drawing short, just got word my 84 year old mother fell and broke her hip this morning and will have corrective surgery today; I am on my way to Arizona to be with her. This, after undergoing heart bypass surgery earlier this year... oy vay (anyone give me knowledge on elderly hip breaks?). The good news is she is a tough old broad and in good health otherwise, not in pain and in good spirits.
I just did the random number drawing and the winner is: Tim the Cop!!!!! I will PM him now and have the clock shipped out as soon as I get his address. Thanks to all that participated. |
