We see watch we think is fake. We post it here. Someone from here reports to ebay. Ebay removes the listing .... question is: Why does ebay believe us over the seller??

Could it be that Rolex does not have anyone monitoring aftermarket sales of their watches. Let's face it unless your an AD then the Rolex your selling may be geniune but it is still aftermarket/ unauthorized reseller of thier product.
I think Cartier has someone on board who moniters sales on ebay/yahoo etc of thier pre owned reselling watches. Also could be ebay trust the members here because of knowledge of the Rolex line. No opening a can of worms here, just my opinion is all. Jim |

I'm sure when ebay is contacted, the discrepencies with the watch or listing verbage are reported to ebay - whether it be a fake, altered or a deceptive listing. Ebay knows there are many fakes, forgeries, and dubious sellers selling on the "bay." There is nothing to gain by anyone here reporting one of the infractions noted.

Agree with Springer.
Also, it is my understanding that it is Ebay's call to remove the listing... Anyone can report discrepancies to EBAY... |

Ok, perfectly honest time. Yes anyone can report to Ebay infractions, no doubt about it but places like this that TRY and do good ebay is sometimes quicker to review and do something about.
I know I reported a seller who was blantantly breaking ebay's rules for almost 1 year before they finally did something about it. Reason I report them is simple, why should they be allowed to violate listings rules about payments but regular joes like me could not. I held to it because I felt right is right same as wrong is wrong. BTW he was a big time power seller with a large ebay store. Soooo still makes no difference when it comes to the rules. TRF is a good thing, sometimes it appears harsh to some but to those who LOVE Rolex watches and like them by the book it can be taken wrong when it is reported non authentic. But Authentic and Original Replacement parts are two different things Moral of the story is we should be glad we have a place to check, ask and offer opinions and to a wanna be collector if they do their homework and look at forums they can save themselfs from purchasing a non true "vintage" watch. My wife just told me to shut up so I will. Jim |
