Tag Heuer WK1121 from 1973?
Came across this TAG for sale, haven't been able to see it in person yet. (I live in rural town and the watch is about an hour and half away.)
I am not very well versed in TAGs but I thought I would see what y'all had to say about it. Part of me thinks it's a fake but who knows... I been known to be wrong once... maybe twice before. haha Messaged the guy and this is pretty much what I have gathered so far: He bought the watch second hand off of another person, no papers or box and that it was from 1973. Now, I can't for the life of me find a good site that I can use to date this watch or even get a date range for it. I'm sure someone with a lot more knowledge than I have about this can tell me something about it or know when they used the "T < 25 Swiss Made T < 25" markings and then see if it is in line with the WK1121 number on the back. I've asked for some other and better photos of the watch but he said he would have to get them to me later this evening after he gets off from work. So, I will later update the photos in the dropbox link but for now, can anyone tell me anything about this watch from the photos provided right now? *I blurred out the SN number on the back just in case it is a good watch. Can't post links here yet. It's dropbox... .com/sh/2evjcog6rg636hw/AABskUXcx1OdQAOrDazMvi57a?dl=0 |

I gathered quickly that it was a 25 year "award" to someone with the dates on the back and that it is not from 73'. lol
Researching a bit more, I have decided that it is a Gen 2 (1995-1997). I found where in 1998 they kept the 2000 mostly the same, however; they did divide the 2000 into 3 different models: Classic, Sport and Exclusive. One thing that I have noticed in a photo ad for the new "models" from 1998 is that it looks like they added a square outline around the date on all three models? The WK1121 I'm looking up about does not have any outline around the date. I'm assuming that this piece is from 96-97' and that fits pretty well with the award year of 1998 on the back I think. I still haven't seen many 2000s with the T<25 Swiss markings... so is this dial a little more rare? I have come across plenty marked T Swiss. |
