Changing hands on my Air-King, help me decide...

I've been considering a change of hands on my Air-King for a while now (almost since I bought it on impulse in 2007).

I've always wanted a white dialled plain Explorer, but going for that one ultra-rare vintage that have been sighted is most likely impossible. So, when the new AK 114200 popped up at one of the local AD:s I immediately went for it, only to get annoyed on the short and thin hands.

Now I've almost decided to purchase hands from the 36mm DJ, but what if I did this? Or even used the black hands from an Explorer II?

What do you think?

Are you sure it will work with DJ hands in a AK?

DJ 36 mm and AK 34 mm, I don't know.

Yep, it will work. Has been done by Hannes. You know him.

But I do not know about mercedes hands - but I know you have put such hands on a DJ ;-)

I am going to talk to my AD to verify that it can be done - and I have not yet decided. The AK gets very little wrist time... so a change might improve things...

you can use a set of ExpyI hands and they will fit. I hope this helps. If ya need anymore info email me and I'll try to dig up some more info.

I've had the hands changed now, and it seems that I've gotten the same as on the new Oyster Perpetual 116000, which is longer, and seems to be slightly broader.

Initially it felt really good, but currently I have second thoughts...

i've seen pics of an air king modified with the addition of DJ hands. imo, the hands look too big, especially the minute hand which appears on the longish side.
