Hi all, I’m a new member trying to see which watch will be easier to get my hands on. I’m waitlisted for the submariner but just started to look into a sea dweller. Wondering what everyone feedback on the 2 watches. I’m sure they are both great watches, it’s a very hard decision for me. I know a lot of you will tell me to buy what you like but I like both and can only have 1. Thanks for everyone’s input/advice.

114060 since you already have 2 watches with date complications... consider grey market if you want it immediately

I found a non authorized dealer and they gave me a price of 6800 out the door. Wait will be 6-8 months but then 2 days later they said they will have 1 in about 10 days. Sounds kinda fishy

Typical sales tactic. Manage and then exceed your expectations. You think they're doing you a favour so best buy now in case you have along wait.

Great references but very different wearing. Either would fit your collection nicely.

Between those two I supposed you should choose depending on your wrist size. To me the question of how hard the watch is to get does not come into it.

Some people choose watches because they are easy to get. Others choose watches because they are hard to get. I suggest you choose a watch you actually like and go from there. You will get it sooner or later.

Thanks for your input. My wrist is on the smaller size however my Panerai is 44mm and the GMTs are 40mm. The 2 sizes work for me. The only problem is that I like both and my wife will only allow me to add 1 more watch to my collection. Otherwise I will try to get both lol.

That's a huge spread, both in terms of actual size, as well as visual impact. Those 44mm Panerai look huge and dwarf a smaller wrist. If you can pull it off, you should be able to pull of an SD43, no problem. Based on that, I'd think the Sub would be too small, but if you also like the GMTs, then it's a toss up.

I would say 100% SD43 if you don’t mind the size on your wrist. Keep in mind that it will wear smaller than your 44mm. To me, a plain old sub is just that, a plain old sub.

I have a 7" wrist and wear everything from 40mm to 47 mm.

I've found that it's easy to get caught up in focusing on "mm" size vs. what looks good to you on your wrist

Alot ot 47 mm watches wear smaller than the number indicates, likewise some 40mm wears larger. Focus on what looks good to you is my advice to the OP

Agreed. The Sea-Dweller's case and bracelet are both noticeably larger than those of the Submariner. I guess it depends to some degree on how you'll wear this watch: to the office, where the scale of the Sub may work better with office attire, or in more casual situations, where a larger, sportier watch works?

It's down to personal taste. Which one do you find more thrilling? The one that excites you the most is the winner.

To me personally the SD43 feels more substantial and looks nicer on the wrist, it's also a more special watch IMHO whereas the Sub feels kind of common and a little bit dull, also not a fan of the super case.

A friend of mine was totally sold on the Sub 114060 and thought it was the perfect watch, robust, beautiful and symmetrical, no "awful" Cyclops. He got one and he's a happy man.

i would get the 126600 if you can get your hands on one.......it's more beefier than a sub, since you can pull a 44mm panerai off

I have 6.5” wrist and regular Sub already look oversize on me. Recently I bought 42mm SkyDweller and it seem too big but I like the dial and complication which might stay with the collection. I didn’t even bother try on 43mm SeaD because I know it absolutely not gonna work.

The SD43 is a bit taller but overall wears smaller than the skydweller in my opinion due to the contoured lugs and glidelock clasp which insures the perfect fit. I owned both and ended up parting with the skydweller. Still have the SD43 and can’t imagine parting with it.

It’s a no brainer. A classic sized Sub or an oversized overpriced Sub with a SD nomenclature. The Seadweller is dead this new incarnation is an imposter buy the classic 114060

I own both, sub is my daily and I’ll often wear the SD43 at weekends...feels more of an occasion piece and definitely has some heft to it. I sometimes think about selling the SD43 because it doesn’t get much wrist time but I just can’t quite bring myself to do it.

The decider for me would be less the size, than the shape. The ceramic Sub is 'blocky' and square in appearance, and moves away from the earlier design. The Sea Dweller, both 40 and 43, avoid that look and, to me, seems more in line with the earlier models.
So, if worried about size, the earlier SD4 could be an alternative. Surely, better looking than the ceramic Sub?

Neither. I would go for the 116600 SD. Best of both worlds. It’s pretty much the best SD released imo. Here’s mine on my 6.3” wrist. No overhang.
