Pepsi 126710BLRO

Apologies if this has already been discussed ad nauseum, but I don’t visit this forum as often as others. But what’s up with the new GMT Pepsi? Rolex’s list price is $9500, but flippers are selling them for $20k! Is demand that high, supply that low?

See the "Conspiracy" thread. Ad nauseum pretty much covers it.
You'll get several conflicting theories from numerous people, none of whom know for sure what is going on. Good luck in your quest for an answer.

Yes this is the current state of almost all stainless steel Rolex watches. The GMT Pepsi, Daytona C, and blue dial SkyDweller are going for hefty premiums right now.

I went to two AD's today here in Sydney and they both said they currently get 1 shipment a month from Rolex and do not really know for sure what they are getting until they arrive. The new SS shipments appear to sell on the spot to waiting lists at these two locations.

One of them said models like the blue Sky Dweller, Pepsi and Batmans are very difficult to get at all.

One was really good to talk with ( Swiss Connection) and the other in Martin Place were snobs.

Market price as with any product is the true indicator of what anything is worth and it’s dynamic

Regardless if you think the issue is supply side or demand side... the market price is where it is balanced

That’s what’s surprising. I figured by now any initial excitement would be gone and one could be had at an AD for list price.

It’s not quite the right way to look at this, but as to supply and demand, it seems Rolex is purposefully under-producing by 50% to prop up prices.

So, I guess I’ll just have to wait and maybe not ever get one. I’m not paying 2x over list for a new watch.

The only ones currently profiting from the shortage are the flippers. Rolex is not making any more money than if they were available.

True, but it does keep demand high.

BTW, heard a great story today. A buddy was in the market for a new cerachrom steel Daytona. Walked into an AD, and asked to see one. To his surprise, they had one, and told my buddy it had been ordered by a customer, but the customer declined it earlier the same day, so it was available! He bought it on the spot!

Always nice to hear a happy story like that! They do exist...

I have to admit, guilty as charged.
Really didn’t like it at first.
Love it now.

Correction......, US Price list is $9250.00, but I guess thats just splitting hairs given they're not available at the price very easily.

I've been able to get multiple Daytona's, both of the most current SD's releases, and a BLNR upon it's release, as well as a Hulk this year with only a few week wait from one of my two very good local AD's I use. Both are quoting me year to multiple year waiting lists for the BLRO. They seem to have really clamped down on the distribution of this one.

Good luck on your quest!

Solely my opinion, mind you. But one would have to be insane to pay the ridiculous prices that are being asked for this watch. What folks do with their money is their business. I get it. But damn. That just seems over the top stupid to me.

Yep, matter of principle. If Rolex sets the msrp for it at 20k, I would buy it if I have the funds. But rolex set it at 9k (which they are already profiting on) and flippers/greys want 20k for it? well they can keep it.
