Do all your watches get equal wrist time?
I have 6 watches in my collection, at first I would try to give each piece equal time on the wrist, but slowly and surely, I began developing preferences.
My everyday go to watch is either the WG BLRO or the AP 26405 CE, I run a multinational company and spend my week flying between 4-5 cities in Asia, combined these two watches occupy over 80% of my wrist time. I am a rather large fella, so the more dainty 5712 is reserved for the winter in full suit and tie, those occasions have become increasingly rare as I work in SE Asia where winter is non existent. On the flip side, the AP yellow brick is a little too flashy and heavy for me to wear often, I reserve that for Sunday walks in tshirt whilst walking my dog and scooping up dog poop. 1665 DssD should get more wrist time as should my 116519, but I am sad to say that they spend the majority of their lives in the wind box. Which sometimes make me question why I even have them in the first place. Perhaps its time to further consolidate. To have a 3-4 piece collection instead of a 6 watch collection that doesnt get much on utility. Anyone else been through the same process? |

I know what you mean. So many watches with so little time. I need another set of wrists.

Every few years I’ll sell/trade off watches I don’t wear much. I’ve regretted selling some of them, primarily since I sold a bunch off before their trading values skyrocketed. I’ve never missed the actual watch once I decided to move it along. Keep what you like, sell what you don’t really love any more. Opens the door to find pieces you might even love more.

I wear whatever I’m feeling for the day. Sometimes I wear a watch several days in a row, sometimes I change my watch between lunch and dinner. Didn’t buy my first PM watch until last year, but then bought two more right after. These get most of my wrist time.

No.
I have nearly forty watches across a broad range of prices. All I can say is that all have been worn at least once and probably more, except the two new vintage watches that I'm having serviced before wearing them.

i probably have about 3 that get 80% of the wrist time. The rest i don't like any less but they are more specific situation watches or watches i keep for sentimental reasons.

3 is the magic number IMHO. DD40 on the weekend. Black and Blue dial get split during the week depending on what I wear to work.

My new DJ is a wrist hog. I think the pieces will eventually get equal time, if the thrill of this new one goes away. That's a good news/bad news kinda thing, no?

I try to rotate them equally, but my sunbursts get preference on sunny days, my ceramics when I want to be devil may care and may get into heated and theatrical debates, my chronos when I am timing something.

I have datejust, WG BLRO and a date sub. The datejust gets no wrist time anymore. I swap every 2 weeks between the gmt and sub, ..... but .... I find it hard to take the BLRO off. It is simply amazing, looks and feels so special.

My three Rolex get equal wrist time in rotation. The exception being when I'm away, because I only take one with me, which will be with me for the duration, be it days or weeks. That's usually the Polar. I have three other watches which were all bought to commemorate something. They are not as comfortable to wear and get worn occasionally, to give them an airing and for the novelty value. No question of disposing of any of them, unless I give them to family.

SS Daytona (116520), RG Daytona (chocolate on alligator strap) and DSSD Blue (recent purchase), Hamilton and a couple of others. Prior to adding the DSSD the RG Daytona was my go to, but now it's the DSSD and I honestly don't know that I'll be wearing the others all that much as it's just perfect for me.

Trying to spread equal time to every watch is a loosing battle. That’s part of the fun and why it’s a luxury. Luxury is a bit of excess. I am the first to admit I only need one Rolex to last a lifetime. Sometimes I will wear the same watch for weeks but that doesn’t mean I don’t like or enjoy my other watches any less.
The longer you are into this lifestyle, is when you know forum questions like “this or that watch?” Or “which watch is better?” are WIS rookie questions. Watch monogamy doesn’t work. It’s a sickness.

You have a nice collection and have a lot of funds tied up in watches that are not getting any significant wrist time. I would, and have, consolidated to watches that I believe will get more wrist time. Sometimes they work and other times they get moved along. Why not look at something which has a chance to get some wrist time. Platinum Daytona, DD or other PM offering would be great. A BLRO would also be fun. I would go with a white metal as those who know, know. Others will just see it as a SS watch.

I probably would say I have 6 or 7 that get most of my wrist time with others once in a while. I guess at end of the day I really don’t need more than 2 or 3 but we all know how that goes. Perhaps some day I will get there who knows.

Maybe in the long term they do, but in any six months I definitely my favourites but like music different things come to the front and back at different times.
I was hoarding 10 or 12 but plan to get this down to 4 or 5. Just need to find a better way of selling them than eBay. I felt a bit short changed with all the fees. |

I've actually started tracking when I wear my watches on a spreadsheet. I'm hoping that this will give me the impetus to wear them all even if it is only a day or so per cycle of the collection. This is just for the better watches. There are watches that didn't make the sheet. The sheet has 28 on it. I'd also like to scale back but so far no go.

I also have 4 R, except inheritances.. for me is an ideal number for squeeze the most your treasure.
Then, one always takes center stage, in my case my Sub 16800 also because I’m calmer for scratches and marks of use.. Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando Tapatalk |

I only wear the pepsi now. No other watches get wrist time. But realistically 4-6 is enough watches for me. I do upgrade the porfolio tho.
