My first Seiko arrived... SRPC95 Nemo Turtle

I am a sucker for sunburst dials: LB, LV, ... and now this.

Just arrived today, and it looks better in person than it does in pictures. The nickname Nemo is well deserved.

I think this will be a first of many Seiko divers and perhaps Presage to come... who knows, perhaps even GS someday!

Thanks guys. Yes it looks real nice in person. Bracelet feels a bit flimsy but I think they is expected especially when your frame of reference is oyster bracelets of Rolex. But I don’t doubt it’s toughness one bit regardless of how it feels. Rubber strap will probably be on it most of the time anyway.

“Fanta” , huh? I like that!!!

I always wanted to add an orange watch to the small collection and was looking at Omega PO 8500 orange bezel but didn’t find any in good condition that I liked ( but not like I was looking hard enough, just randomly), but in a way this one fits the bill for now and saves me a good chunk of $$$ while doing it.

I will share more pics later. My daughter’s birthday party with many 12 year olds sleeping over and also entertaining an out of town guest is occupying all my ‘me’ time at the moment.

Thanks guys.

Here it is on rubber strap it came with.

I don’t think I can wear it to work ( engineering office env) due to its size and LOUD color, but it definitely is a fun watch for Sunday picnic at the park or ski trips or beach days.

Looks great!

I have two generations of Orange Monsters. Orange is a fun color. It will be fun in less stodgy surroundings.

So after owning this a week or so and its your first seiko, whats your thoughts on the quality and feel of seiko?
Did it meet your expectation?
Has your thoughts on Seiko changed somewhat after getting your first?
I think these turtle reissues are actually one of the best watches to get a feel of the essence and charm of seiko.

Sorry was away for a few days (busy at work/home/life).

After seeing my wear this watch for a few days in a row, and my enthusiastic talks about it, both my kids asked me at various times: "Daddy, is that your favorite watch now??" to which I answered: "Well, one of the favorites!"

I always knew Seiko is a good name and quality watches, but never really thought about buying one. I was looking at skx007 last year as a beater watch for when I go to Home Depot or work in the backyard etc., but never really got around to buying one. The sheer number of seikos out there and variety is just too confusing for a new person to approach. But at that price point, thankfully for most of us on this forum, we can just take the chance and jump in for the first one anyway.

I love the dial and it is so nicely done. Just a beautiful color combination overall and quality of the sunburst is pretty damn good.

I have not and will not use a loop to check it under, that is for sure.

The bracelet, I took off immediately after sizing it since, well, used to Rolex Oyster so yeah, the bracelet felt cheap.

The strap is good, but I am finding the metal loop to be uncomfortable and digging into my skin as it is rectangular with sharp edges. But then again perhaps this wasn't designed with desk diving in mind. I will definitely explore some other straps and/or bracelets for sure. I hear crafter blues are good straps, so perhaps try one of those (in ORANGE perhaps! )

Overall, one of my favorite watches now and will definitely be looking at the Monsters and Samurais and other divers from Seiko for sure.

The fun part is really as someone said above, the fact that you can find and order/purchase the watch you like without too much hassle. That makes the whole thing more 'fun'.
