Watch under $5000

Hello Folks, I’m thinking in buy a luxury watch under the 5k, talking about luxury watches, I have an Breitling Aerospace and an Tag Heuer Calibre S Regatta. I was thinking to get a Omega or a Rolex, maybe an Oris or a Sinn too, it doesn’t have to be an brand a new watch, can be a pre-owned, what you guys think about that??
Thanks, Lucas!!!

My first choice would be an Omega Moonwatch - a classic with A LOT of pedigree.

If you wanted to go the Rolex route I would go with a 5 digit Explorer.

Two great options - well within four budget.

Just my .02

Hi RHIII, I thought on the Speedy too, but the missing of the date wheel has broken my heart, thank you for the tip of the Explorer, It’s a great watch, and it has the GMT hand also, I will search about it, again, thank you!!
Thanks, Lucas!!!

Hi, henrylee, I saw the Tudor GMT, and I’ve liked a lot, but I don’t know if it worth it 4000 gram for it, what do you think? Is it a great watch??
Thanks, Lucas!!!

Tudor 58 if you can get hold of it. Fantastic entry level piece. Perfectly proportioned like early vintage subs...

Hello, I404I, do you think that this one worth it more the 58 than the Tudor GMT? Or maybe an Oris Diver 65? What do you think?
Thanks, Lucas!!!

The tudor GMT is a fantastic watch but the side profile is very off putting...

It's quite huge... it wears too big in height... feels chunky. Feels wrong.
It looks fantastic though...

The 58 is perfectly proportioned. However you do have to like the faux vintage feel... and the fact it does not have no date.

I'm actually hoping that a Tudor 58 GMT / or a non vintage version will come out :)

Picture below... she's a chunky one you see :p

I think you’re right, it looks a big chunky watch, like the BB41, what do you think of the Tudor BB36?? Too small? Maybe this one or the Tudor 58....
Thanks, Lucas!!!

Hello, this is a great watch!! The retail price I think that is ok!
I think for this price point, it’s worth it more to buy the Omega Seamaster 300m Ceramic (not the Baselworld 2018 model), what do you think??

I'm not sure about "worth" it may be worth more but I always go by what I "like" more, ya know you have to look at it on your wrist. I have a chance to get a new Gmt Blnr or an Ln, I know the Blnr is worth more but I'm not sure if l like it more. It's gotta sing, you have to try it on in person if you can, that could change everything.

I’m going pre-owned Rolex Datejust 36 mm. Really versatile watch that is extremely hard to argue with, given that the smaller size doesn’t bother you. Speedy Pro and Explorer 1 are also great choices.

The Seamaster is a great choice too, more of a diver. I stopped in an Omega Boutique and that aqua terra was a little more dressy, more like a DJ41 which I now have but it looked great on the wrist, I was tempted at a discount but so hard to pull the trigger especially trying for a Blnr or Ln. I agree on a used DJ though, hard to beat.

Seamaster 300 SMPc (NOT the 2018 version) and a Nomos metro or tagente.

First choice would be Rolex, the Explorer 1 tops most lists. Definitely look at the used and auction market and have some budget for at least a checkup if history is unknow...otherwise I’d also look at IWC. I quite like some of their offerings and find them a bit more upmarket than the extremely solid tool watches from Sinn. The for sale section here is definitely your friend if you identify the sellers. Have fun and don’t pull out to much hair while chasing...

I’d look at a Cartier or Chopard or even a PAM. You can get quite alot for $5k in the lightly used range in many brands which are more luxury than premium. I’d even take a closer look at GS or Blancpain.

Tudor BBR is well under 5k and a great choice.

A 14060 from a trusted seller would be my ideal choice but it may stretch the 5k a bit.

Milgaus, explorer also options here.

If you really want new, you could get an oyster perpetual for 5k.

I saw the 14060 (No COSC of course), beautiful watch, do you think that worth it more than the 16610? Maybe save a little more money to go with the date version?? What do you think??

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I love the classic clean symmetrical lines of the 14060 / 14060m - two liner particularly.

But a date function is a useful complication, it's really individual preference.

I would advise buying from a trusted seller when looking at these older pieces.
