How many links do I have?

Hi Guys,

I sold my watch, but the buyer has some questions on the Numbers of links. Can someone tell me how many normal links I have on my watch? Its a 116506 platinum daytona. Cames from the AD with 12 links?

Thanx you Guys?

Looks like you got 10 there. 6/4. Might even be 9. 5/4 plus the EZ link.

That's all the links it came from original purchase?
Did you have links removed when you purchased from AD to resize?

Last years I had 10 several watches with the same links. It makes hard to recognize whether its steel or platinum. Only 0,6 gram differences between the two links. Make this sense?

If i purchased the daytona from you and it was missing platinum links i'd be a bit upset as well.

Hopefully you get this sorted with the buyer but those links are not cheap.

Looks like you're missing one from each side. Being that they're platinum...ouch.

I agree. I believe when his AD removed links to resize, they may have kept them. Just my guess.

Watchfinder ‘stole’ my white gold links twice.

It is a common thing that some unscrupulous dealers do as gold and platinum links are very very expensive !

I recently purchased 36mm TT DJ and when I got the watch back home. I noticed the dealer "forgot" place 4 of my removed links back in the box.
The keyword from my dealer was the watchmaker "forgot" to put it back. LOL.

I’m curious why you couldn’t just count the links yourself?

because some of us don't know whats considered a true link and whats not. I had this issue before with the half links and the removable vs non removable.

Looks like 5 and 4. I guess your not sure about the easy link that looks like a regular link, therefore not removable ?

.

Oyster 78596 for PT Daytona is initially delivered with 13 links including easylink (so it's 12 "real" links)

From these links you should have 3 fixed and 2 removable on 6h side , and 3 fixed and 4 removable (+ easylink) on the 12h side.

You seem to miss 3 removable links. MSRP for one of them is around 1800$ ...

I just looked at mine. 6 on the 12 o'clock side, plus an EZ link. 4 on the 6 o'clock side. Plus two full links that are removed.

FWIW, I miscounted at first (it's easier to count links from the outside than the inside) and about had a heart attack.

I count 9 links. I believe it would have come with 11 new. (Yes I posted before I read the thread and shouldn’t have done that)

I’m thinking of selling off my two extra links and paying down the mortgage.

Endlinks (between watch lugs) to the first screwed link is ± € 11.000 for Day-Date 40 mm Ref. 228206 & 228396TBR.

6 links on the 6 o'clock side + Endlinks
7 links on the 12 o'clock side + Endlinks

Roughly € 22.000
Without screwed links and Crownclasp ....

Conclusion:

Platinum is not the cheapest material in the world.

Quite the quagmire. I hope it has a happy ending for all parties involved. By the way, platinum and stainless steel links are easily distinguishable when compared.
