Rolex 116610 dial question
I know this is going to make some people cringe, but I’ve got a couple of questions. I acquired a 2010 sub. It was made to look like the 116619 white gold and I obviously don’t like it, but it was too good of a value to pass up. Everything else on the watch is fine. My question is, should I be patient and wait for someone to sell the black dial and insert? Or send to Rolex and let them replace the parts? I can’t seem to find a price for what it may cost at Rolex, but believe I can get the parts myself for about a grand. I’m seeking your opinions though. I can’t be the first guy that’s done this and wanted to go back to original. Thanks in advance.

Go to an AD with a Rolex certified watchmaker. They’ll give you the cost and the turn around will be much faster. An RSC will probably require a service as well.

It'll probably be a lot cheaper to get the parts direct than sourcing them yourself. Bezels are pretty cheap straight from Rolex and prices on the secondary market are pretty crazy. |

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. A local AD here has certified Rolex watchmakers on staff. I did some checking this morning. I'm going to call when they open.

So is the bezel blue as well?

If I lived near you and I had a 116610, I would swap you my dial/bezel and cover the costs at a local watchmaker.. what not ask around..could save yourself some $$$ and potentially gain a new friend..

Yes, it has a blue ceramic bezel. It's also not original Rolex and doesn't sit around the crystal properly. Still not complaining though. I knew what I was buying and trusted that i'd be able to fix it and still get a great value. I did have it looked at yesterday to verify it was just the insert and dial and that there are no other issues with the watch at all. I will upload some pics shortly as soon as i can resize them.

I'm also not bothering with the pip insert on this bezel. It would just keep getting knocked off because of how the insert sits on the crystal. I am super happy with my purchase, but it baffles me on why someone would do this to their watch. I understand making it look like the 116619 if that's what you like. Those are beautiful watches, but the quality on these parts is just terrible.

I'd just send it to an RSC and have them basically put it back to stock. If they make you get a service then at least you know it's good for another 10ish years.

Well... I've sourced a dial that should be here next week. The insert looks like it will be hard to get. It's an $800 step in the right direction though.

Glad to hear that you made some progress and were able to find a dial. As much as I love the 116619, I would want to do exactly what you're doing here to bring it back to original. I've always wished Rolex would offer the Bluesy in a SS version, but I can understand them keeping it exclusive like that.

Looks like someone tried to rebrush the bracelet and did a terrible job. I would send the watch to the RSC and have it refinished to factory spec

The dial and insert were not genuine. Heck, the printing wasn’t even correct for what the dial was supposed to be. The insert was too thick and sat above the crystal. My parts got here though and it’s at an independent watchmaker being put back to original. I didn’t want to send it thru an AD at the moment because of the aftermarket stuff. I saved a little cash by sourcing it myself.
